Silence filled the room as the group bickered over Marika’s course of action. The nurse would pop her head in quickly, not noticing the gun which the woman had barely managed to hide. It would be at this moment, whether due to not wishing to risk the mission or sheer annoyance, Marika would exit the room. The nurse had a tray of food. Enough for everyone in the group to have a nice dinner. “Doctor Natanail told us you all were planning to stay the night, so I brought you something to eat. You need not worry about Mister Lorester, he’d currently being drip-fed now” She paused, narrowing her eyes due to the dark. “It seems he’s fallen asleep anyways. Once he’s out he doesn’t often stir or wake, no matter how much you try. Very worrisome the first night we had him!” She’d set the tray down on a small table not too far from his bedside. “Just… Just a word of caution” The nurse said as she cast a sympathetic glance towards Lorester. “Don’t open the blinds at night. It don’t know why, but I feel so uneasy when they are open. Like leaving the backdoor open to your house…” She’d return her sights back to the two with a smile. “I must just be superstitious. Have a nice night!” Foward to night, feel free to describe anything in between
Without the clock, one would not know time had even passed within the dark and gloomy room. The heart monitor and hallway lighting leaking through the doorframe served as the only respite from the impending night. Even this would be short lived as the hallway lights clacked off, indicating midnight had fallen. The wind howled and shook the brush outside. Everything was silent. TapIt was soft, but compared to the silence that had filled the room, it was almost deafening. Tap, TapBut where could it be coming from? TapIt was a hollow sound, almost resembling someone… Tapping on glass. The window still had it’s blinds drawn, but there was no mistaking it. Every tap resulted in the blinds shaking lightly. Perhaps a tree? Perhaps a bird? They seemed so deliberate. But it was so strange, given the room was on the second floor. 24:00Meilius VarkalaKajiya HogoshaWarlock

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Meilius released a single, frustrated sigh. Now that they've gotten Lorester to fall asleep and Marika left with her rifle in tow, how much have they managed to figure out in the end? How much which they weren't already made aware of or couldn't have figured out through educated guesses? Well... they've learned what the girl which took away the man's wife and left him on the edge of death looked like. And that she might be a some sort of vampiric being, if they even exist... They know nothing about where to find this monster, or how to stop it, or anything. They just know the fact. And can only assume that it will soon strike again... ... ... Meilius did not even bother trying to go to sleep. The young Revenant paced from one side of the room to the next, lost in thought. The mysterious doll of a girl and the whatever curse she inflicted on Lorester and his wife, the concern which he had that this might be his last day... Wait! He's almost forgotten to check up on Marika! Why did she decide to leave... And... Wait. What is that sound? Meilius stopped, his eyes darting across the room. Nothing happened which his vision might have caught... but something was knocking. Tapping, slowly, silently, to a point where he would have barely noticed if his mind did not instinctively draw attention to it. It's the window, that's where it's coming rom. Meilius recalled the nurse requesting it to not be opened. Something about it gave her the creeps. Maybe there was a reason for that. You can't figure out what's seeking to hurt you if you never look at them in the eye, though. Meilius stepped forward, leaned over the bed, and began pulling the blinds open. (312 words)

Kajiya almost breathed a sigh of relief with Marika took it upon herself to leave the room, and took her trigger finger with her. His mind was still reeling from the stress of this mission, and the whole episode of Good Cop/Bad Cop featuring the Burgas hospital staff wasn't helping things much, as far as nerves went. Thus, he was almost relieved when his little questioning period was over, and the man fell asleep, leaving him with Meilius...and his thoughts. Kajiya stared down at the sketch he made. It was simplistic. It was good as far as sketches went, if he were simply drawing something recreationally. But as far as an accurate representation of a person went? It was god awful. Yet, it wasn't completely his fault, after all. Lorester didn't give him much to go on, at all, so Kajiya had to fill in gaps with his own imagination...which wasn't helpful in the slightest for his imagination could just as well be wrong. Thus, to make up for it, he spent more time shading in detail to the parts that Lorester did describe in more depth...most notably the hair, eyes, and dress. Taking out a box of colored pencils, Kajiya flipped it open and began shading in colors, mentally kicking himself for not asking Lorester exactly what shade of blue the dress was, or what shade of purple her hair was. After what seemed like an hour and a half of working, Kajiya ripped out the piece of paper, and threw it to the side in frustration. "I might as well have not done this shit at all..." (Blue) The Banshee muttered, in reference to his sketch. If Lorester was in better health, Kajiya would have tried to wake him and ask for more direction in the drawing, but given how close the man looked to death, Kajiya couldn't help but wonder if Lorester would even wake up at all if Kajiya tried to wake him. Feeling moody and dejected, Kajiya crossed his arms and brooded in silence, letting his sketchbook slip from his lap and hit the floor with a soft thud. And for hours he just remained like that, every so often his head dipped forward, indicating he was on the verge of nodding off, before snapping back awake, looking rather startled. He refused food several times when the nurse came in, asking if they wanted anything. Kajiya often didn't find himself desiring food all that often since he became a Revenant, not that he ate much when he was alive. He was a rather picky eater, and because of such, he often refused food from places that were not his routine, and wasn't very experimental. Who said teenagers were easy? At some point, the white haired Investigator must have fallen asleep, for the next thing he was aware of was opening his eyes to the sound of tapping, the Banshee easily being woken up to the slight disturbance. What was that noise? Frowning ever so slightly, his blood red eyes would close for a moment, concentrating on trying to pinpoint the source of the tapping. Just as he opened his eyes to look towards the window, he caught sight of Meilius already reaching forward to open the blinds...and in that moment, Kajiya remembered something vital: “I feel like tonight will be my last night."Kajiya's eyes widened, and he opened his mouth to tell Meilius to wait, but it was much too late. The wait until night had built up quite a bit of tension. What had attacked Mister Lorester and killed his wife? Was it coming tonight? The thoughts had left the two CORPSE agents sleepless and rightfully so. Even the slightest of sounds had set them off. The blinds whirred open in one smooth motion. Standing before Meilius was… Nothing. In front of the room was a small patch of open field followed by a dense forest. The Hospital was but a stone’s throw away from rural Bulgaria. The full moon shone on the field almost like a spot light. A singular street lamp buzzed, sputtering every so often as it’s ancient electronics struggled to remain active. All was silent in the hospital, but the soft howling of wind could be heard picking up outside. As if to break the scenic view, a pure white hand would softly press against the glass. It gave off an odd moon-like glow. Slowly a figure would begin to emerge from the left side of the window. No handprint was left behind as the flawless hand shifted to the figure’s side. What Meilius saw could only be described as… Well, a ghost. A tall and slender woman stood before the glass. Her complexion was without even a minor blemish. She had long, curly hair, which was an intense red. Her full lips matched the color to an almost unnatural extent. But her most striking feature was her eyes. One might think her to have none given how black and empty they seemed. With enough focus, however, one could notice two tiny red pupils. The woman once more pressed her hand against the glass, the two red dots falling upon Meilius. She gave a smile which could burn the coldest of hearts. “Won’t you invite me in, young man?” The voice was strikingly clear, as if she was speaking directly into Meilius’ ear. It’s tone was mesmerizing. It was as if an Angel had descended from heaven to speak with him. The entire world was hers and yet she had chosen to speak with him. “It’s so cold out here… Please let me warm up next to my dear husband…” 24:00 Meilius, roll a Willpower check~ You may describe what you do after the roll~Meilius VarkalaKajiya HogoshaWarlock

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant With a surge of determination, Meilius ripped the window curtains open, greeted with... nothing of significance. Just a rather usual, ordinary landscape of southern Europe, one which the young Revenant had already gotten accustomed to as he and the rest of their team landed in the city - perhaps looking somewhat more intimidating now that it was nighttime, rather than daytime, but, well, all his worries turned out unfounded and- There was more than nothing outside. First, it manifested itself as merely a hand, then, the rest of the body followed. It stared into the young Revenant with pitch black eyes, smiling at him, asking to reunite with her husband, and it could only mean mister Lorester. Instinctively, Meilius's hand reached forward while his eyes stared back at the approaching spectre, before a brief glint of rational thought poked into his skull and forced his fingertips to halt. Doesn't she... look the same... as the girl Lorester described? Pale appearance, pitch black eyes, acting outwardly friendly at first... Lorester also informed that his wife perished against that girl, and now this woman, seemingly turned into the same being as her, requests to see "her dear husband" again... And yet, she looked so mesmerizing... so honest... She could not do any harm, could she? Meilius lowered his hand, continuing to stare. For now, he did nothing. Just when he thought things couldn't get much worse than pulling a gun on someone in a foreign hospital, the Markala family never failed to surprise him. As Meilius pulled open the window curtain, Kajiya immediately moved to stand in front of Lorester, as if by way of defending him. From the angle he was at, Kajiya at first couldn't even see the apparition, and for a moment he even felt silly for being so alarmed in the first place. Here he was, a teenager, getting all antsy over some nurse's ghost stories. What was he? Eight? Nevertheless, just as Kajiya was beginning to relax his stance, he caught sight of it. The ethereal form of some apparition, her hands touching the glass of the window, the only thing that separated himself, Meilius and Lorester from whoever...or whatever was behind that glass. And Kajiya intended to keep it that way. "Meilius, do me a favor and don't be stupid. Do not open that window. We can analyze and think about what to do next. She can't come in here...don't give her the ability to." With that said, Kajiya turned to Lorester, as if to check on the old man. It turned out he was right, and Kajiya wasn't sure whether to be happy or horrified by that fact. On one hand they had confirmed CORPSE's fear that this was the result of something supernatural, instead of some freak accident. However, now they had to deal with this apparition, while also protecting Mr. Lorester. Which was...rather difficult in itself. If they were to investigate further, they had to take Lorester away. Kajiya searched the bed for a moment, before pressing the help button on the remote attached to the bed. If they could summon a nurse, they could extract Mr. Lorester. Bring him to some other room, and leave Meilius and Kajiya alone to deal with the phantom stalker. Hopefully. Post Count: 6 | Meilius Varkala | Sadbot

The woman gave a soft laugh, like a ripple within a moonlit pond. She did not take her eyes off Meilius for a good while. It was as if the longer he looked at her, the more connected she grew to him. A flower slowly creeping its roots into his very being. “Please, let me see my husband. You know what it’s like to be alone, don’t you?” She asked, her smile slowly shifting into a frown. “You know all too well… Meilius… Your parents left you just because you were different” Her eyes glinted brightly. They shone a new color, one which Meilius could not describe. It was beautiful. “Don’t be like them Meilius. Let me in so I can be with my husband again. You can come with us, leave these…” She paused. “Leave that awful Corporation behind” Once more she placed her hand against the glass. “Let me in, Meilius-” As if a priceless piece of china had just been shattered, the woman’s face would twist into a vicious snarl. A loud hiss escaped from her perfect lips. The beauty still remained but it was different. Her calm and charming demeanor was more comparable to a feline warning an enemy to stay away from its prey. The color in her eyes was gone, replaced by the dark void that Lorester had so vividly described. Sheer contempt exuded from her. With an almost audible snap, her eyes befell Kajiya who had just shouted for help. “You little…” She muttered. “I’m going to make you suffer for this…” The door would swing open as an unknown nurse came running into the room. She would exclaim something in Bulgarian and look towards Mister Lorester. “Is everything ok? Is he hurt?” She asked in a panic. Before they could respond, she would run up to Mister Lorester and check on him. “What is the issue? Maina!” 1:00 Meilius Varkala Kajiya Hogosha Warlock

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant The spectre continued speaking even as it increasingly became apparent that Meilius was not going to budge. The young blonde Revenant gulped, not taking his eyes off the woman on the other side, but furrowing his eyebrows and clenching his fists as a show of defiance. Kajiya's yell to not let the woman inside reached Meilius's ears washed out, but audible, and it helped him make his decision as well. No, she will not come inside. And she did not take it well. Dropping all pretenses and attempts to appeal to Meilius's past, she screeched and declared that Kajiya, as well as him, are going to suffer for their defiance. At this point, however, she was no longer either terrifying nor mesmerizing. To Meilius, she was a villain to stop. A nurse stormed into the room, yelling and checking on the fading Mister Lorester, and asked what was causing the ruckus here. Clearly, she could not see the spectre floating on the other side of the window - which meant that this next part was going to be rather awkward. He'll have to trust Kajiya to explain what's going on. Meilius pulled out one of his swords, the Spirit Blade, and stepped forward to stand in between the nurse and the window, pointing his weapon at the latter. (229 words)

Think of a lie quickly. For about one-eighths of a second, Kajiya considered telling the panicked nurse the truth, tell her that the reason they called for help was to move Lorester away from the creepy ghost outside the hospital window that was trying to reconnect, and possible kill her former lover. Thankfully, Kajiya regained his senses in time to not make such a grievous error. Not only would the nurse probably not believe him (and recommend for him to visit the psychiatric ward), but it would put his own cover in danger, given he was supposed to be an investigator for the Burgas Police Department, not a specialist on the supernatural, which already was a rather fickle science in itself. Point is, the whole thing would have been a mess. Which is why Kajiya mentally patted himself on the back for not going down that road. However, that didn't make the alternative any easier. He had to come up with something. Stepping forward, making sure to block the nurse's view of Meilius in a rather casual manner, he placed his right hand on Lorester's shoulder, his eyes wide with concern," "Forgive me..I grew concerned and called you guys in. Mr. Lorester's breathing began to take a turn to what I perceived as the worst, and his rhythm became disjointed and heavy, almost as if labored. I merely wanted to double check he was okay, and if he should be moved to another room for closer examination. I'm not a medical professional, so I didn't want to do anything to check his vitals myself."How that lie spilled out so easily, Kajiya will never know for sure. All he knew was that it was a good act. His expression, which showed one of alarm and concern, which was more out of surprise by the appearance of the apparition than for Mr. Lorester, only helped to further the story he spun. Holding back a grimace, Kajiya couldn't help but feel a bit of fear burn slow in his heart. Were they over their heads? Could they protect the dying Mr. Lorester while containing a spirit? How powerful was this spirit? Where did it come from, and where did it go after it came to haunt Lorester? What even was it?All these questions and more flooded Kajiya's brain as he stood across from the nurse, waiting for her response, his grip tightening slightly on the railing of Lorester's bed. He had to trust Meilius to keep an eye out for the spirit. Kajiya now had to put on his acting face and keep the hospital staff in the dark. The nurse nodded whilst checking over Mister Lorester. After about thirty seconds she would pat him on the chest and look up at Kajiya. “Oh, this is nothing to worry about!” She remarked, casually walking past the bed towards the window. “Please keep your walking stick aside, young sir” She said, not noticing it was a sword in the darkness of the room. She’d give a quick glance out the window and nod to herself. “Yes, yes. This often happens when you leave the shades open. Bit strange but not lethal. Doctor Natanail thinks he might have developed some sort of… Er… Selenophobia? Scared of the moon, you see. Trauma and such. Nothing to be worried about!” She would step past Meilius and by the door. “Keep the blinds open or closed if you wish, it won’t cause him any real harm. Have a good night.” She said before stepping through the doorway. The window had no signs of the strange figure they had seen moments ago. Though if one were to look close enough, they might notice something odd in the distance. Along the treeline a dim light seemed to float before descending into the forest itself. After a minute the light would appear behind the trunk of a tree. It was a small girl who shared many of the same features as the ghostly woman. Her large eyes were looking towards the window, a soft smile crossing her face. It was odd how genuine the smile seemed, a sharp contrast to the woman from before. Just as quickly as she arrived, she would disappear back into the treeline.
The night would continue to progress for an hour or so with no signs of the mysterious figure. Eventually the door would creak open and that very same nurse would pop her head in. “I’m going to begin working on some charts here soon, you may wish to-” Before she could finish, the lights of the outer hallway clacked off. The Nurse seemed confused. “Hm… They’ve been doing this a bit lately. Something with the electrical box. We just give it a good hit and it works” She fully opened the door. “I’m going to go fix the lights, sorry for the intrusion! I'll come back a bit later." 3:00 Meilius VarkalaKajiya HogoshaWarlock

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant The crisis in Mr. Lorester's room turned out to be a confrontation which never was. The nurse was unaware of what was going on to a level of comedy, explaining that the patient had a fear of the moon, but it wasn't going to kill him, and called Meilius's sword a pointing stick. The young Revenant turned to the window. The ferocious woman was already gone from the window. For a second, she once again assumed the form of a girl, standing among the trees and inspecting them from a far before vanishing once again. Meilius shot her a glare and sheathed her weapon. Something in his senses told him that this wasn't the last time he and Kajiya got to witness her - and while he had the urge to run to the forest and try to find the girl before she does any harm, he decided to wait. Needless to say, his suspicions soon proved correct. About an hour passed before the nurse popped back into the room and the lights outside, across the hallway, suddenly flickered and died down. She assured that it was happening more than usual lately, but it was nothing to be concerned with. That'd be a mistake. Meilius pulled himself off the floor and turned to Kajiya, then pointed towards the leaving nurse with his finger. If someone malicious was taking out the lights, then whoever was trying to put them back on would understandably be in danger... The young Revenant himself, on the other hand, stepped closer to Lorester's bed, his hand already reaching for the handle of his sword. (279 words)

I should be a damn actor.Kajiya took a short mental break from his current predicament to pat himself on the bed. What other sixteen year old boy would have been able to lie so calmly and so well to a nurse, while being watched by some weird, supernatural ghost, while standing over a dying man? The Banshee couldn't name too many who could do that. Kajiya whispered some form of congratulations to himself, before snapping back to reality For while they avoided a confrontation with the room assigned nurse, they still had the ghost..or whatever the hell that woman was, to deal with. Once the nurse left the room the first time, Kajiya took the time to sink into the nearest chair, relieved that he no longer had to keep up the act. Sinking into the chair, Kajiya caught a glimpse of a bright figure in the distance, the ethereal figure of a young girl, who, while looking somewhat similar, didn't appear quite the same as the woman from only seconds before. Then, as quickly as she appeared, she was gone. The next hour passed in relative silence. Kajiya was busy at work with his sketchbook, drawing a new image of the woman now that he was able to see her in detail. His sketch was going fairly well (in comparison to his first attempt), when he was suddenly interrupted from his work by the nurse's second appearance, along with the flickering lights. Adopting his neutral expression, Kajiya stood up as the nurse entered, his eerie red eyes focusing on the woman. As she reported how common the light flickering was, Kajiya simply nodded and let her leave the area. Only when he heard her footsteps retreat down the hall, did Kajiya turn to address Meillius. "This mission is already proving to be annoying..." Kajiya muttered under his breath, before looking to Meilius," "We confirmed the appearance of our target, but we need more...we can wait till morning to see what we can get from Mr. Lorester, but unless we plan to use him as bait, we can't necessarily leave him and track down the apparition. Nor can we learn much about her. So I suggest here is where we map out a plan....""This person seems to have an obsession with Lorester. She may try and come back for him. If possible, we can wait outside for her when she does appear...or...I dunno. Tracking down an apparition solely focused on hunting down this man, while also protecting this man is on another level of difficult. And it makes it worse that at any point this guy could just keel over. What the hell should we do?" Kajiya threw his hands up, frustrated at his lack of answers. Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Right as the nurse ran off, Kajiya turned to Meilius and explained the situation in detail. The fellow Revenant could tell just as well that they have very few options. There's only two of them, and they need to protect Lorester while also hunting the apparition. Simply put, they are stretched very thin, and Kajiya had no clue what to do. Neither did Meilius... Holding onto his chin, the young blonde Revenant found himself lost in thought. Much like Kajiya, Meilius could tell that this apparition was obsessed with Lorester and might come back for him later in the night. Which meant that Mr. Lorester and his presence had to be the key to drawing the apparition out. And this is when an idea popped into his head. It was crazy, definitely crazy, but it just might work. Meilius pulled out his notebook and scribbled down a single sentence: Set up to open fire on the window. He showed the page to Kajiya, hoping he listens and puts his sniper rifle to work, and then stepped towards the dying patient's bed. If what they've figured out is that the apparition haunting this man is obsessed with him and wants to do nothing more than reunite with him, for worse for everyone involved... then the conclusion Meilius came to was that they need to take advantage of this obsession. Violently. Suddenly, the Revenant raised his sword, holding it above Lorester's chest, pointing the blade right in between the man's ribs. The sword glimmered in the faint light of the street lights outside and Meilius struck as furious as an expression as he could allow himself to create the illusion that he was about to put their ward out of his misery. It was official. The Varkala Family was insane. Insane with guns and swords. The perfect combination. When it came to Kajiya's solution regarding what to do next, he was a bit more moderate, intending to put out a call to Investigator Karris, and ask him for advice on what to do, and how to proceed from this point, in regards to how to protect Lorester and deal with this ghost at the same time. A perfectly reasonable, plan, right? After all, Kajiya was new to this whole thing, and only sixteen (or eighteen, if you really wanna be technical about age) years old. Karris was some super powerful and experienced Investigator. Surely, he had dealt with cases like this before, right? He had to, right? Unfortunately for the red-eyed Banshee, Meilius came to a solution much sooner than Kajiya did. And it was a lot more radical than Kajiya calling for assistance. Kajiya barely had time to read the message Meilius scribbled on paper before he leapt into action, withdrawing his sword and raising it over the sleeping man. A scream rose in Kajiya's throat to tell him to stop, before he quelled it, not wishing to alert any hospital staff to their position. Raising swiftly, he moved to shut the door to their room, and locked it, removing his overcoat and trying to drape it over the door's window as best he could so no one could see in. Turning back to the window on the other side now, the one that led to outside, Kajiya raised his right hand, already preparing to execute some magical incantation if the apparition took the bait. "If we die, Meilius, I'm killing you."Post Count: 9 | Meilius Varkala | Sadbot

Silence crept once more into the room as Kajiya finished his threat. Meilius would aim his sword towards the sickly man for a minute or two, just enough time for the lights in the hallway to relight. This, however, would be the only solace available to the CORPSE agents. Outside in the distance, Kajiya could make out the familiar light which had disappeared not too long ago. Slowly it began its approach. It rose into the air and drifted softly towards the window until finally, Kajiya could make it out. It was a little girl. The same one which he and Meilius had seen before. Her appearance was eerily similar to the picture which Kajiya had sketched beforehand. There was nothing inherently off about the girl. The black voids which any human would hesitate to call eyes had a strange… comfort to them. Finally she would reach the glass. The girl was no more than 3 feet tall with beautiful flowing hair. She gave a smile before leaning towards the glass. “Hello?” She said softly. “Mrs. Lorester wishes to see her husband. Really bad. She wants to bring him back with us” She stood straight up. “I don’t want to see you get hurt, Misters. I like your people. Can’t you just let her see him? Pretty please?” A knocking could be heard at the door to the room. Slowly it crept open, until suddenly being thrust forward. A loud thud filled the room as the Nurse from before fell inside. Her skin was pale, neck covered in blood. Standing in the doorway was a shadowy figure. As the bright light finally adjusted to the darkness, the two could see it was the woman from before. Her lips were stained with blood. “Her throat has been slit” The woman said smugly. “You can let her die there, or let me in and escape” “Mary, be kind…” The little girl stated. The smugness which the woman held would evaporate as quickly as it appeared. It was replaced by a mix of intense fear and shame. “Y-yes, Lady Tomie. Of course” 3:00 Meilius Varkala Kajiya Hogosha Warlock
