CHARACTER BIO
NAME: Meilius Varkala
AGE: 18 (physically 17)
GENDER: M
HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 5'8", 140 lbs
APPEARANCE:
GOALS:
Meilius's goal is nothing more than to selflessly help others. He's the type of person to throw away everything in his hands if it means protecting a single life, no matter if it is human, Revenant, or even villain. As a fresh recruit in the C.O.R.P.S.E. Organization, he reacts to everything like a starry-eyed child and is full of inspiration that the people he's serving with will help him in his cause.
PERSONALITY:
Meilius knows what is right. He can't describe it, he can't explain it, but the fuzzy feeling in his heart when he saves a life or helps a person in need, it's what guides him in life and keeps him strong in battle - and he not only stubbornly clings onto that call to arms, but also believes that somewhere, no matter how deep down, every single other person shares that view.
He cannot believe that anyone could be evil by nature, he cannot believe that people can be guided solely by greed, bloodlust, or insanity. They must be misguided, and need to be shown the light. As determined towards good nature as he is, however, Meilius's stubbornness can show itself in far more abrasive ways. The teen Revenant simply cannot accept that he could be wrong - while he is willing to listen to others if he hasn't formed an opinion of his own on the subject, if he's already decided where he stands, then he will cling onto his beliefs no matter what.
FAMILIAL AND PERSONAL CONNECTIONS:
REVENANT TYPE: Aitvaras (Deogen-type Revenant)
PRE-REVENANCE:
Meilius Varkala was born in Eastern Europe, to a family of what most assume to be small businessowners selling locally made shoelaces, but who were in fact immersed in matters of the occult, secretly researching what they knew to be undeniable evidence of spiritual entities roaming the planet's surface. His life did not start on the right foot at all - his birth was mangled to a point where his vocal chords were permanently damaged and had to be operated out, leaving the child permanently mute for the rest of his life.
Which left his parents... not too happy. What they expected to be the fruit of their loving marriage turned to be a significant burden, and so they swiftly lost interest in taking care of their child in order to continue pursuing achievements in the occult. Caring for young Meilius fell onto the shoulders of his grand-father Vytautas, who soon noted that despite his condition, the kid was spirited and quick to learn, and so eventually taught him to communicate with others through the written word and signs. Even once he enrolled in school, his grand-father remained a presence in his life, and his tutoring was strict - getting the kid to stay fit, passing down the occassional moral lesson and especially teaching him self-defense. According to the bearded elderly man, he had a vision that it was going to come to use one day. It's the twenty-first century, people don't have visions anymore... what was he even on about?
The life of someone who researches into the world of the spiritual is never calm or easy. One night, Meilius and the rest of their family home were suddenly woken up by screeching cars and gunfire. Acting against all instinct and training, the teenager ran outside to see what was going on. The night was cold and dark, lights few and far in between, and Meilius was completely baffled as for what was happening - hell, even today, he had no clue what was happening that night. Was the local police cracking down on his parents' business, or the Legion, or maybe even C.O.R.P.S.E.?
How could you possibly witness a truck coming straight at you in such a situation?
POST REVENANCE:
Mangled under the wheels of a passing truck, rolling across the dimly lit street, Meilius's body was surely dead. And yet, spewed out onto the asphalt, a tiny piece of Meilius's mind refused to leave. Dragged towards Somnium, it resisted and pulles itself back, infusing itself onto his former body, repairing it and allowing him to stand up again.
The silent, lost and forgotten teenager found himself surrounded by mist and feeling a surge of newfound strength. As soon as he stood, he cloaked the street around him mist, as soon as he ran, he moved with the speed of a raging wind. And he chose to run, run as fast as he could - he was afraid, not just of what was raging across the town, but of what happened to him. He couldn't understand, anything. Wasn't he supposed to be dead? If he's alive, then... what is up with these abilities? If he is dead, then... is this the "Spectre" which he'd hear mentioned in hush between his Mom and Dad every once in a while? Whatever was the reason, he determined that he could not return home, not for the time being. He wandered across his country, and beyond, searching for his calling. He soon realized that he does not need to drink, eat or sleep, eliminating any and all reasons to return to mortal life, which he might have eventually chosen to abandon fully...
Life on the rooftops and in back-street alleys gave Meilius a much different glimpse of life. He saw just how much sadness, sorrow and suffering he's missed, living a comfortable life back home... and it all called him to a duty. A duty to help. He'd jump in from his places of hiding here and there, disarming would-be thieves or other criminals, helping people out when they need a hand - of course, doing his best to never shed light to what he was actually life. Just a strange human, nothing more, don't worry.
Unfortunately, or maybe even fortunately, his activities led to him swiftly being noticed by C.O.R.P.S.E., who offered him the opportunity of a lifetime. The agent sent to contact him informed him that he was not alone, there were hundreds of others like him, and under their wing, he can fight for what's right better than ever before. It was an opportunity which he could not, and did not, deny.

FAMILIAL AND PERSONAL CONNECTIONS:
- Varkala Family: A superficially innocuous business family from Eastern Europe. They neither cared for nor dismissed Meilius that much - but, as a kid, he loved them more than almost everything else in the world, even if he could never express it fully.
- Vytautas Varkala: A mute child obviously finds it harder to integrate to society than an ordinary one, even with help. For Meilius, this help came in the form of his grandfather Vytautas, who slowly, carefully and dutifully taught the mute child written language and how it corresponds to sound, as difficult as it was for him to comprehend. Thanks to him, he's largely able to understand other people speak and write at this point - along the side, he taught the teen basics of self-defense and close quarters combat - according to him, even in a world where there is light at the end of the tunnel, you still have to defend yourself from darkness.
Meilius is convinced that Vytautas had some sort of connection to the world of the spiritual, as difficult as it would be for him to justify his claim. He just... seems to be the type.
