Sector 1 lacked any true training room, unlike Sector 3. Despite its notoriety as an “Investigation” sector, this was not always true. The vast majority of Revenants who joined Sector 1 were delegated to paperwork management, Mission research, Intelligence operations, quite a few different office jobs. Investigators made up a little less than half of them and were chosen based on several different factors. Sadly, Karris would be forced to ignore some of these factors due to personnel scarcity. From a list of new recruits with relatively menial jobs, he had chosen five candidates. Thorough analysis showed each, while lacking in one skill or another, could easily be taught what they lacked. Today he would begin work with one such candidate. Kajiya Hogosha. No outstanding intellect, sub-par physical abilities, but a natural with magic. To be expected of a Banshee. Karris adjusted his tie upon stepping into the barren interrogation room. Mirrors had been replaced with stone and a polished metal table sat in the center. Karris took his seat and placed the suitcase down, waiting patiently for Kajiya to enter. As the door finally clicked open, Karris looked down at his watch. The harsh lighting made it difficult to spot what Karris’ sunken eyes were looking at. His head turned towards the doorway and up at Kajiya. “Please, take a seat Mister Hogosha. State your full name and purpose for being here” He adjusted his glasses. “Your test will begin soon” The man’s voice had an odd droning quality to it, like a college professor giving a boring lecture. No emotion could be discerned on his face. It was not an attempt to hide it, he genuinely seemed as if he felt and cared for nothing. Kajiya Hogosha

He hated waiting rooms with a burning passion. They were all the same. Stale rooms with little in the way of decoration besides the bare essentials. A single receptionist (or perhaps more, depending on the office), with that desk that made sure to let you know they didn't want to talk to you, and made you not want to talk to them either. And let's not ignore that little nagging feeling of anticipation that is practically leaping out of your throat, but must be kept at bay by your knowledge that you cannot get the main event over with until it's "your turn". In an attempt to calm down his nerves, Kajiya set himself to doodling, his sketchbook opening in his hands to some random page. Most of the time, his art supplies were shut away in his room, rarely touched unless the mood struck the boy...and nowadays, the mood rarely did. But his sketchbook was always with him, if just to pass the time, rather than to jot down a quick sketch of anything that actually inspired him. This time, it was....well, Kajiya's guess was just about as good as anything else. When he began drawing nowadays, it was more an expression of pure emotion than anything else, just dumping his mind onto the paper. And since he became a Revenant, it seemed that the paper just served as an illustration of the inner turmoil that was his heart. As Kajiya stared down at his doodle, he took note of the jumble of dark lines, intersecting at odd angles, forming some jumbled mess of pure slop. "What the actual fuck is this..." Kajiya grumbled as he ripped the page out of the book and crumpled it up, immediately growing angry at the drawing. He hated his art, hated everything about it. But not because he had no confidence in his talent. The multiple art awards he won in Secondary School would be enough to prove that the public thought otherwise in regards to his talent. It was a matter of motivation. He just....didn't have what he used to have. People told him his soul returned to his body, invigorated with an ethereal energy not normally accessible to humans, and that was what made him a Revenant. Yet, he disagreed. To him, his soul truly perished that day two years ago, the moment Zane was shot. His failure to save the one person he was willing to give his life for haunted him, even to this day. Maybe....just maybe this was his second chance to correct his wrongs and save his little bro- " "Mr. Hogosha...it's your turn." An attendant said, opening the door to allow him entry. Pushing his thoughts aside, Kajiya rose to his full height, his colorful jacket hanging loosely from his body, his red colored earrings swaying ever so slightly as they hung from his ears. His blood red eyes focused on the attendant, and he merely nodded, his right left stepping forward. Then his left....but he barely made a sound. His pale, alabaster like skin shimmered in the dim lighting of the hallway as he followed the attendant, the color only beaten by his pure white hair. The rumors swirling around the CORPSE Trainees regarding how ghostlike he appeared didn't come from nowhere. His smooth, gliding gait, his near silent movements, and the lack of color apparent on him, only made up by his clothing and eyes, gave him the appearance of a phantom, or some form of ghastly fragment. The appearance of someone who had one foot in the door between the living and dead. Wasn't that what Revenants were, in a way? The dead who truly didn't die? "Investigator Karris will see you now. Be polite." The attendant ordered, to which Kajiya merely gave her a bored look, before moving into the brightly lit room, a sharp contrast to the dim, faded lighting of the hallway. So much of a contrast that Kajiya shielded his eyes for a second upon entry, blinking as he forced his eyes to adjust. The sight of him cowering from the brightness was not unlike that of a Vampire, shying away from sunlight. Although thankfully Kajiya didn't disintegrate into nothingness. And he quite liked garlic, thank you. It was only as he sat down did he realize he still had the sketchbook in his right hand, the crumpled up page that held his drawing sticking out awkwardly. Grimacing, Kajiya tried to stuff the entire sketchbook within his jacket, before his blood gaze flickered upwards to Karris. Examining the man for a moment as he listened to him speak, Kajiya couldn't help but mentally groan. Great, out of all the Investigators I had to get the Bueller Economic Teacher type..But, he was here. This interview/interrogation/test/whatever the fuck this shit was, was the deciding factor as to whether he had a future in CORPSE or not. His school grades were lackluster, to say the least. His aptitude test did showcase a rather high intelligence rating based on those tests, but that carried about as much weight as putting your IQ Score on your Job Resume, while also putting that you failed out of college. Thankfully, Kajiya didn't have to worry much about explaining his lack of a degree for most positions within CORPSE. He "died" when he was sixteen, after all. Yet he was pretty much average in just about everything other than magic, which was his outstanding trait that got him a bit of attention. It got him this far in the application process, but what would happen from here on out? Time to find out."Kajiya Seiros Hogosha. I'm...I'm here because CORPSE saved my life, and I want to give back. So I want to become an Investigator within Sector One, and work to help other people the way you guys helped me." Kajiya said, laying his hands on his lap. Post Count: 1 | Sadbot

Karris nodded slightly as Kajiya gave his answer. As he did so, he would lean down to the briefcase he had set to the side and placed it on the table. He’d deliberately click the briefcase open, making a loud click as Kajiya finished. “A very common response. CORPSE understands and is thankful for your appreciation” He stated as if reading from a script. The briefcase slowly opened. “The test will begin in one minute” Karris produced an object from the briefcase, it was metallic and black. He’d lift it up and point it towards the recruit with another audible click. “Your prefered weapon of choice is located directly outside of the room. The lights will be disable for the remainder of this test, aside from three safe spots. I will attempt to kill you. In order to complete your test, you must survive” A loud bang would suddenly fill the small interrogation room, the deafening sound of a gunshot. The bullet would whizz past Kajiya’s head and into the wall behind him. “If you survive, we will induct you fully as an investigator. If you do not, we will transport your remains to your provided contact. Good luck” Karris sat the gun down on the metal table and placed his hands together, waiting patiently for the recruit to leave. With a loud clack, the light began to fade from the interrogation room. Strangely, the Investigator did not seem to disappear in the dark. In fact his skin seemed to brighten to a ghostly pale white. His sunken eyes became a bright white with small pupils, black rings forming around them. Without looking to recruit, he would slowly open his mouth to a near unnatural level before letting out an inhuman half croak, half groan. Kajiya HogoshaKARRISSUMMARY

Breathe. Breathe. Please Breathe. His heart was pounding, his breath caught in his throat. His eyes wide, the shock spreading throughout his body like an illness that could destroy the body. The gunshot didn't even hit him, but the wall behind him. Yet...that didn't matter. As the gunshot hit the wall, he could hear a scream. A child's scream. A male child's scream. Yet, Kajiya knew there was no one behind him. Knew that it was only his own memories coming back to haunt him. His fear of being shot at increasing tenfold in this moment, in which the Investigator's warning blast proving not only to signify the battle to come, but to serve as psychological torment, the likes of which if Kajiya did not endure, he would die. Again. He couldn't let that happen. There was too much to do, still so much work to be done. He was given this second chance for a reason. To do something good with it. To try and bring his brother back, and to repay Mrs. Lane and everyone else who welcomed him here at CORPSE for their work. It wouldn't do to die now just because his nature as a Banshee made those awful thoughts come circling back every waking moment. His torment couldn't get in the way of his future. He wouldn't let it. Steeling himself, Kajiya rose and bowed his head to the now ghastly looking man, grimacing as he left the room, returning to the long hallway. Just as Karris had said, his weapon of choice was now sitting there, on a rack that most certainly was not there before. Standard Issue for CORPSE, of course. Not like they would spring for the heavy duty stuff for a new recruit like him. Now....he just had to proceed to whatever combat zone they had created for him. After all, a Sniper Rifle was not exactly the weapon of choice for an enclosed space. Usually best at vantage points, in open areas with a great deal of cover (for himself of course. In an ideal world, there would be cover for him and not his opponent). Nevertheless, no matter the terrain. He was expected to make do. Picking up the Sniper Rifle, Kajiya would allow himself a few seconds to adjust his grip on it, and check over it, to make sure everything was in order, before taking off, his footsteps barely audible even though he was moving at a full sprint. There was something..off...about that. As he moved further down the hall into what he assumed would be a mock battle zone, Kajiya muttered a few incantations under his breath, speaking in some form of language. He didn't have his Grimoire handy with him, for have you ever tried to read from a book while shooting a two handed rifle? Yet, he didn't need to. When he applied himself and actually tried, the kid was brilliant. He committed the incantations and movements to memory and as he ran, he suddenly switched back to English, muttering a single word, "Invigorate." Before bracing himself. I hate this partKajiya's body suddenly spasmed, as if possessed, his body moving erratically for about half a second, stopping his movements. Several cracks could be heard, before he suddenly took a deep breath, "Now, for as much pain as that was...if I don't feel a difference I'm gonna be mad..." Kajiya said as he finally pushed himself through a door, which led out of the cramped hallway and into what seemed like... An abandoned street? Post Count: 2 | SadbotBATTLE TRACKER

Silence filled the street, so viscous you could almost run a hand through it. The darkness was not much better, the grey disheveled buildings reflecting little to no light from the safe spaces. The sound of something ticking off the ground could be heard, a pebble or some dust perhaps. Nothing seemed to happen as Kajiya wandered the empty street. All but a few buildings were securely shut. Then, as if a warning that his time was up, a soft dragging noise could be heard. It was distant, as if it was a block or two away in this impossible space. Nothing could be seen as the dragging grew louder and louder, keeping the same methodical ssssshct-sssshct. No matter how far Kajiya moved, no matter how fast, the sound grew closer between each pause. It would seem as if the sound was directly in front of the recruit before finally stopping. Minutes passed in silence before a softly clicking croak could be heard within the darkness. There was no discernible origin, it was as if the darkness reverberated the sound. A white face could finally be seen piercing the darkness. The face only resemble Karris superficially, as if this figure was wearing a mask of porcelain. The wide and bright white eyes on the face were only exacerbated by the void-black rings around them. The pupils were a pure black and barely existed within the white globes. As soon as Kajiya spotted the face, it would stare back at him. It’s mouth slowly opened again, cracking as if breaking bones. The interior of the mouth was pure and dark oblivion. It almost seemed as if the face had no body, and was simply some floating grotesque mask. A sudden slash would appear from the darkness, aimed at the young recruit. Another followed. A whirlwind of sharp and cruel attacks with murderous intent. Kajiya HogoshaKARRISSUMMARY

Dammit. Visibility wasn't optimal, but it wasn't super poor. He could still see, and what little bit of light there was present throughout the street served as enough to navigate without like...smashing into an abandoned car or some shit. The silence stretched onwards, for miles upon miles, creating a sort of dead zone, in which even Kajiya's soft, nearly nonexistent footsteps could be heard loud and clear, simply due to there being little noise pollution to drown it out. Yet, that also made the dragging sound practically deafening, all things considered. Get a bear on your surroundings. You're a Sniper. Gather Intelligence on your target, know your surroundings. Know your target's movements and habits. Be patient. Listen. Act.Kajiya repeated his mantra to himself as he kept himself in constant motion, trying to survey his surroundings. He by no means came from a military background. He was a merchant's son for Spectre's sake. But, he wasn't going to apply to Sector One without doing a bit of...preliminary training. Several months ago, he had confessed to Mrs. Lane regarding his desire to join Sector One, and to help him get a bit of training in preparation. Several months wasn't exactly the optimal time frame to turn an eighteen year old kid into a trained professional, but Mr. Kiyoshi, a former Sector One Investigator who got transferred to Sector Three, and a close friend to Mrs. Lane, was convinced enough to give him a few pointers. And by pointers, that was boot camp, except in the forest, to avoid the Revenant Civilian areas. Nevertheless, Mr. Kiyoshi's training was coming in real handy now...but not handy enough. Despite his best efforts to shake the dragging sound that was pursuing him, it grew louder. And louder. Until suddenly, the Revenant struck. Appearing from the darkness came the altered visage of Karris, his face...what the hell was that? The mere sight of the man, ran a chill down Kajiya's spine...not that he had much time to think about that. Acting purely based off instinct, Kajiya sprung into action, barely tracking the blades, but reacting to them nonetheless. His body twisted to the right, and then to the left as he danced out of the way of Karris's flurry of shadowy attacks. So you're a Revenant too huh? Fine then! With a renewed sense of focus, Kajiya allowed himself the opportunity to release his own powers. His red eyes gained a sudden brightness to them, as if glowing with ferocity, his eyes wide and unblinking as he backed away from Karris, muttering a few foreign words under his breath before speaking, "Celestial Shift"His body pulsating with magic, the boy suddenly disintegrated into golden flecks of light, the likes of which melting his body away, and dotting the air with small auras of light as they harmlessly sprinkled to the ground. Celestial Shift, a rather advanced magical form of short range teleportation. It was by no means an ability to travel across the world with. In fact, one could only really travel within one's immediate area with it, but was a rather difficult ability to learn, and even harder to act upon in the middle of battle. Yet, he did it. And boy, did he feel nauseous when he appeared in a new space. Picking a secluded building some space away, Kajiya suddenly reappeared, golden flecks sprinkling the ground as he popped back into existence. A side effect of the ability was a rather brief bout of intense nausea, which caused Kajiya to nearly keel over and hurl. Thankfully, he managed to resist the urge to vomit, and instead took up point, his glowing eyes quickly taking note of his surroundings on the roof of one of the abandoned buildings. Touching his wrist, Kajiya muttered yet another incantation, before his left wrist glowed purple," "Shadow Arts: Slither" He said, before leaving the rune to set in...and prayerfully set in correctly. Setting up post, Kajiya quickly knelt onto the ground, setting up his Rifle upon a mounted Tripod, practically jamming his eye into the scope, and zooming forward to get a sighting of Karris. Which was...hard, given he could barely see the man in the first place, and he had chosen the building at random, rather than setting up a pre-determined port of exit, as he usually did. But he panicked in the moment. Kajiya was about to give up and move to another building when he finally spotted him! There was no one else in the area, that much was clear given the lack of sound, and the pale face that poked out of the darkness was unmistakable. Kajiya allowed his nerves and emotion to flow out of his body. He was in the thick of it now, and now was no time for panic or worry. He was in combat, and he needed to act like it. Discipline or emotion. Calculation preferred, instinct when necessary. Aim....Shoot. The sound of a gunshot could be heard as Kajiya, for the first time in his life since the incident, aimed his weapon at someone else. But this time, he pulled the trigger. Gunfire echoed through the abandoned street corner, bullets whizzing into the darkness around the white face. If Kajiya had expected to hear any sort of impact from the bullet, he would be disappointed. It was as if he fired the gun into the air. With a soft woosh the face would return back into the darkness, leaving the street silent. Every so often the soft crackle of dirt or the echo of some unnatural thing could be heard in the distance. It was never close enough to warrant panic. Hours would seem to pass, the street continued on in a neverending straight line. Buildings which were once stout squares seemed to gradually morph into unimaginable shapes. Lines bent in angles not possible. Just trying to follow the perimeter of their shape seemed to be impossible, lines would end at points directly opposite to where they started. Suddenly, like glass shattering the wretched noise would start up again. This time it was far closer than it had originally been. Unlike before, it closed in at a rapid pace until finally stopping. Kajiya would find no white face alone the darkness flanking him this time. Instead a deep, guttural rumble began to fill the empty street. It came from above. Looking up, Kajiya would see what seemed to be the move in the sky. It moved closer and closer until finally it almost lit up the street with it’s light. Features could be seen on it. The same piercing eyes and unnaturally large mouth were visible, but any other trace of Karris was gone. Two large blades fell from the sky and impacted the ground around Kajiya in an attempt to box him in. Smaller blades began to fall in the center of the square, stabbing through the concrete ground like butter. Kajiya HogoshaKARRISSUMMARY Attack 1: Missed! Attack 2: Missed!

He missed. And not only did he miss, but he had revealed his position doing so. Which was extremely bad. He hated this stage, this entire scene. It was set up against him, and he was fully aware of that. Little time to survey his surroundings, and attune himself to them. The darkness worked on the side of..whatever Investigator Karris was, and allowed him to move unseen through the shadows, a luxury Kajiya didn't seem to have himself, given he kept getting tracked down. Just as soon as he had fired bullet, the Onryo had vanished back into the shadows. Kajiya quickly took up his rifle, and looked around. He didn't want to move on foot. If he did so, he risked being intercepted by Karris, and being forced into yet another melee battle. His gaze shifted around the roof, then back to his left wrist, which still glowed purple from the spell he had casted before, which he hoped actually worked this time. He could already tell that Invigorate had failed, which meant that so far he was one for three so far on spells that had actually worked this match. Nevertheless, there was only one entrance to get up to the roof. Well two, if one wanted to be honest. One was the stairs, in which one had to work their way into the building, and climb all the flights of stairs to get up to the roof, in which Kajiya could easily escape with enough warning if that were the option Karris decided to take. The other option was to scale the side of the building, which was about as painstakingly slow as it was dangerous. The best course of action was to remain where he was, and if endangered, teleport away as he did before. He was not prepared for melee combat with this man. He had no dagger of his own, no weapon to defend himself against something like that. And Sniper Rifles...did not make the best short range weapons. So he sat, and listened. Occasionally, he used his scope as a form of magnifying glass, checking out the side streets for any sign of Investigator Karris. Nothing. But he could hear the occasional shuffle across pavement, and the inhumane noises that had begun to come from Karris ever since they had started this test. It was unsettling. After about a minute or two of no approach, Kajiya grimaced, and began to move. This time, he would prepare a Celestial Shift the right way, and move to a different zone, and map out his next move. He needed a light source. He was the disadvantage here, and the setting in which this battlefield was made up was not in his favor. If he wanted to do anything, he would need to turn it back in his favor. However, it was when he finally began to move that things became...wonky. He could see the buildings to his left were twisting in unimaginable ways, swirling together, the grays and blacks swirling into some mesh of color. He turned to his right, and saw a similar form of disorientation. He backed up, a bit alarmed. What..what was this? The screech that came next made his blood run cold. The blades crashed next to him, impaling themselves into the tiling. He was caught inside! His hand drifted to his left wrist, and he tapped on it furiously, trying to activate the rune. Damn it! Not fucking now! Of all the times for his spell to fail! His failsafe now out of the water, there was nothing he could do as the knife hail came raining down upon him. Raising his arms to protect him, Kajiya could do nothing as the daggers pierced his skin, puncturing through his body, the blood cascading down his pale body in thick rivulets. Dropping his Sniper Rifle, he dropped to his knees, trying to remain conscious as the immense pain washed over him. It was thankful that he was a Revenant. Had he been fully human, he probably would've been dead after such an attack. Not that that mattered much to Kajiya. Gritting his teeth as blood tore free from his lips, he inwardly cursed himself. To think, he would have failed a second time, without so much as scratching his attacker. Post Count: 4 | SadbotBATTLE TRACKER

A deafening metallic shriek reverberated across the empty street. Bright light reflected from each blade as they rose into the darkness. Finally they would all disappear, leaving only the large face staring down at the broken recruit. Slowly it lowered itself towards the ground. The snapping of sinews and bone were audible as it’s mouth continued to widen. The face was no longer visible, replaced by a void of darkness which completely encompassed the recruit. Silence. Complete silence. SnapIt broke through the silence, another echo. Snap Snap“It’s time to wake up, Mister Hogosha” The oppressive light of the interrogation room immediately disrupted the darkness. Standing above Kajiya was Karris, as drab as ever. He adjusted his glasses and returned back to his seat. “Spectra is quite the violent hallucinogen. When consumed by a Revenant, it suppresses the human consciousness, slowly. To a normal human it causes drowsiness and eventual unconsciousness. Revenants are not normal humans. In a sense we have two consciousnesses living in tandem. One may be put to rest while the other remains awake. The process is often maddening, but not permanently debilitating. The fact you are not a gibbering madman is enough for a passing grade. Your next test will involve a mission to Bulgaria. Consider it a trial by fire” Karris stood and closed his briefcase. Slowly he would make his way to the door. “Congratulations, Mister Hogosha. But next time, I would highly recommend observing your hot chocolate before drinking it. Spectra tends to brighten any liquid it is placed in” Without even a glance, Karris would step out of the room. Kajiya Hogosha

He was seconds from dying. Seconds from consumed by some unseen demon in the nights, the type of apparition that only appears in a child's nightmares that plague them until dawn. Then...it all melted away. Kajiya jolted awake with a start, his body slamming against the back of his chair with quite the great deal of force. His breath came heavy and labored, and his eyes were wide and wild as he found his head whipping back and forth, examining his surroundings, as if trying to get his bearings. Where was the distorted buildings? The swords, the rain of daggers? Kajiya's heart pounded against his chest as his gaze drifted back to Karris. And not Demon Karris, or whatever the Investigator had morphed into. Normal, human Karris. Or Revenant Karris. It hurts to even think about. Kajiya thought to himself. As Karris began to explain the process that Kajiya had just gone, a spark went off in the teenager's brain, as he slowly began to understand just what had happened. What he had seen hadn't actually happened, but in a way it had. It was some strange effect of this "Spectra" drug. He was drugged. It probably wasn't Karris who did it, probably that attendant with the fake smile who asked him if he wanted something to drink while he waited. Sure, Kajiya was pissed about the fact that he had allowed himself to be drugged by some random guy, and how such in any other situation that could have actually killed him, and his dumbass wouldn't have known the difference until his chest was on fire. Yet, illusion or not, he had tried his hardest against the Onryo, and had still failed. In a way, it had opened his eyes. He was good, sure, but he wasn't as good as he possibly should be. Usually, he could shrug off his ineptitude in something as a result of him not trying, and intentionally failing because he wasn't interested in it. But his lessons with the Snipe Rifle? He had worked hard to improve in that. His magic performance? He had spent hours upon hours studying and working on that! And for just one spell he had casted to work? Unacceptable. He hated that. So much so that once he was sure that the nausea he felt had subsided, Kajiya stood up and went after Karris, walking down in pursuit down the hallway, calling after him. "Hey! You can't just leave just like that after drugging me! Just wait for a minute!" Kajiya said as he broke into a run, chasing after the Investigator. Upon reaching him right before he could leave out the door at the end of the hall, he placed his own pale hand on the door, halfway blocking his exit. Looking into his eyes, Kajiya's next words came out in a rush "What are you? Are you a Revenant? If you are what I saw in that....that illusion, then how the hell did you become so powerful? How...How do I become a good Investigator?" He needed to know. He couldn't fail like he did in that illusion. Sure, it was nothing but a dream this time. But what about next time? Karris made no movements as the young Revenant blocked the door. Not even a flinch. Kajiya shouted demands at him, wanting to know what had just happened, how Karris was so strong. An awkward silence filled the room following the demands as Karris simply stared down at Kajiya. Finally, he would release his grip on the door and take his seat. “Take a seat and I’ll explain more” He stated. Once Kajiya did so, Karris would set his briefcase back down and adjust his collar. “I am a Revenant. An Onryo to be precise. There is much you do not understand about how the Somnium works. Most of Sector 2 could not explain it to you if they tried” Karris lifted up his hand and slowly tapped his head. “As Revenants, our soul is split. One half Spectre, One half Human. It is what gives us our abilities. This includes the ability to observe Spectres” Karris lowered his hand. “We have two sets of eyes now. Our bodies are only accustomed to our original and will never truly understand the second. That is where the Spectra comes in” With a familiar click, Karris opened his briefcase and set a small vial on the table. It contained a strange glowing liquid. “When we gave you this drug, it forced your Original eyes to shut. The world became dark because you could no longer see it. All you could see was the Somnium energy left behind by thousands and thousands of wandering Spectres. It coated the old buildings which once stood where we preside. When they were demolished, they left behind a reflection of their former self, shapes that resemble their old forms. Your eyes added details to them out of instinct” Karris picked up the vial, lifting it up whilst continuing to stare at Kajiya. “As things went on the energy distorted. Indescribable impossibilities replaced the familiar buildings. Your human brain and eyes strained to keep up the visage of the normal. The true form of Somnium began to leak through and torture your senses. If it hadn’t worn off when it did, you would become a madman” Karris pocketed the drug. “You did not see me in there, you saw the other half of my Soul. It takes most people decades to understand their Spectre and even longer to control it” Karris once more stood, pausing just a moment. “I died in 1995. I was shot in the head by my daughter after prosecuting her husband for murder. He was executed one day after. Unlike the others, I had no need to understand or control the Spectre side of my soul. It wanted revenge and I did not. I am here, and it is not” He made his way to the door once more, stopping just before exiting. “On becoming a better Investigator: read more books and watch your surroundings” Kajiya Hogosha

Damn. I really fucked up this time. Kajiya thought to himself as he stared into those cold, emotionless eyes. The awkward silence that filled the room in the seconds after was near suffocating. What if this Investigator was some high profile CORPSE agent, and now he was going to die for being a lowly orphan/Investigator wannabe who dared defy such a powerful being? Okay, maybe that was a bit dramatic. But why the blank stare? Thankfully, Karris unknowingly spared Kajiya from further imaginary situations playing through his head by finally responding, indicating for Kajiya to return to his seat in the room. Following after Karris, Kajiya moved to sit down, as Karris moved to do the same, before listening to him explain his own origins. So, Karris was a Revenant. An Onryo, in fact. Kajiya knew a bit about the different types of Revenants, and about how they became that type of Revenant. Kajiya was already aware that he was a Banshee...because of the grief and guilt he felt over Zane's death. And the more Karris talked about his own past, he began to understand how Karris became an Onryo. To be betrayed by his own daughter...to be shot for just doing his job as a Prosecutor...it was horrible. The nature of Karris's "death" manifested itself into that of the Onryo Spectre, and became part of him. So what he saw in that dreamscape was Karris's manifested Spectre soul. Unhindered by human interference. Kajiya was up against a monstrosity driven purely by vengeance, and motivated by hatred. No wonder he stood no chance. Yet, even if it was only a dream, and the enemy he had faced was a being powered by hate and magic, it was still someone he failed to defeat. Or even scratch, in a zone that was working against him. If he was to survive as an Investigator, against other Revenants, he had to improve. Work to adapt to even the most inconvenient battlefields...and actually hit the people he shot at, for once. And most importantly, take Karris's advice and watch his surroundings...which started with ensuring his hot chocolate wasn't drugged the next time he asked for some. As Karris stood up, Kajiya's eyes followed him, and right before the man exited, Kajiya stood and bowed his head, " Thank you...for everything" He said, waiting until he heard the man's footsteps disappear down the hall, before moving out of the interrogation room himself. For he had work to do. Post Count: 6 | Sadbot

A face peeked inside the doorway as Karris left. It was a gaunt and pale girl, seemingly in her teens. She had bright red eyes which were very similar to Kajiya’s own eyes. After giving a somewhat creepy smirk she slank into the room, the door not fully closing in behind her. The girl’s pale face was made ever so brighter by her jungle of black hair which nearly touched the ground. “Oh my, he spoke to you? I’m impressed, what does he see in you…” She scurried up to him just before he could leave, hopping up to grab him by the hair so he would have to kneel down. “Interesting. Well, not really. That’s what makes it interesting… Why do they keep nabbing all of you greenies? Hmmmm?” Finally she would release the tufts of hair she had taken. “Hmph. I don’t get it. Maybe everyone’s just getting sentimental” She’d turn around clumsy and run to the door. “You can call me Gracy, by the way! Everyone got so interested while watching the test that I wanted to see what the big deal was. I really don’t get it. Karris doesn’t tell anyone anything~” She threw her right hand in the air as a wave goodbye before finally leaving. As Kajiya exited, a more familiar person would be standing there to greet him. “Oh...uh, I just saw… Well, it shouldn’t be an issue. She doesn’t usually hurt people. I hope your testing went well. We have set aside several remedies and a nice meal for you. They’re in your room. Please eat as much as you can, the drug’s after effects are much more bearable with a full stomach” Kajiya Hogosha
