The night sky drew over the enormous city of London. Long blond hair floated gently in the chilly english air, the only discernible feature of a tall and dark figure. In what seemed an instant, the figure would appear on the ground, glancing to its left and then it’s right. This was where the target of trouble was supposed to be. Snipe had chosen this day for a very particular reason… Any time they attempted contact with the target, various insults and memes would be returned. One investigator had even received a computer virus from the Target. But today would be different. Not only had CORPSE managed to deliver the target’s sibling back, but in the process gave her a Revenant to study. There was no real danger to it, it was doubtful she’d learn anything new from Meilius. The “Offerings” would hopefully sway her favor a bit. With a clear image of what she looked like they could finally move in and strike a...compromise. “Speak of the devil…” Dalton muttered in a strange accent. He moved gracefully towards the woman, floating through the crowd like water through rocks. Finally he’d managed to place a hand on her shoulder. “Miss Varkala? My name is Jackson Dalton, I’m here to speak with you on behalf of CORPSE” He raised his wide brimmed hat up slightly, revealing bright blue eyes. “Would you mind if we took our discussion someplace more private? Unsavory figures may...overhear more than they should” Warlock

SadbotMarika wasn’t a big fan of CORPSE. A big part of the whole reason she had conjured up the secret identity of Warlock in the first place was so that she could avoid their prying eyes. However, she would later realize that it would have been somewhat in vain, because a certain “test” of hers would’ve revealed (or at least, she speculated it) that they should already have a good idea of who she is - they had allowed themselves to hire her for a small job. Still, she had no intent to actually stay with CORPSE. She was just doing it to follow the old adage of “keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.” Then, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and she would peel it off her with just her thumb and index like if it was a soiled diaper. “And I am the Queen of England.” she replied. She had grown to become skeptical with most people - too many people has tried to trick her. Not everyone had a face that would out-league Miss World, or breasts the size of yoga balls. Going somewhere private with this creep? No way. Everyone who approached her non-Warlock self wanted to go somewhere private. She rose an eyebrow and then gestured dusting away some flith in the air with her hand. “I don’t have time for creeps.” she said dismissively. “Take a photo if you have to. But I’ve got a life to get to.”

Dalton’s piercing blue eyes blinked at Warlock’s sudden and quite rude response. It wasn’t that she hated CORPSE in this moment, she just didn’t believe he was telling the truth. It seemed she wasn’t as much an expert on Revenant’s as they first thought. A well studied Revenant expert would have easily been able to discern Dalton as a Druegen from his eyes alone. No matter, he could easily convince her otherwise. “Warlock, was it? Speaking ill to the men who fund you is not the smartest idea. I have learned this many of times, back before CORPSE” He said in that strange, Italian-esque accent. “We would have had your brother Meilius perform this exchange if not for your close familial ties. You can trust me, I would never lie about such a thing. Lest the father above strike me down again” Dalton leaned his wide brim hat back down before reaching into his jacket pocket. He would produce a small card with the words Investigator Dante Dalton, DR-5965, CORPSE written in bold text. “I do not mean to be rude, but I really must say...er...I must state that we should leave the streets now” His voice quieted to almost a whisper. “The Legion has attempted to send their forward agents into the UK. It is one of the few places we have left in the Western Europe. They would never openly start a fight here lest they face the wrath of the UK government and military, but suicide assissnations are not unheard of. Please lead me somewhere out of the open so we may discuss” Dalton pulled his coat closer around his shoulders before glancing back slightly. Warlock

Marika took a moment to look back and scan this man and his cadd. “Oh” she replied and then chuckled as she shrugged. “You could’ve started by that.” The gigantic girl then look a moment to look around and then scratched her chin for a moment as she thought of where they could go to. Then, she rose her index. “I’ve got my car parked nearby.” she then said and combed a lock of pale gold hair to hook over her ear as she looked in a direction away from them. “We could talk in there.” The girl would then slightly jerk her head to a side to signal to the other man to follow her and then she would go towards the spot on the road where she had stationed her vehicle. On the outside, it looked like a cheap, worn Toyota. She opened the door of the pilot seat and she got inside as she gestured for her companion to get in the back. Within, it could be seen that the car had been modified for Marika’s size and particular method of driving, along with a few screens and computer devices occupying the remaining space in the co-pilot seat. “So. What would you like to talk about?” Marika asked and turned to look at the man that would be behind her. Sadbot

The shadowy man gave a nod as Marika led him onwards. An unassuming van would be their destination. If Dalton had not been around for so long, he would have been confused by the deshieveled vehicle. As the years went on, however, he had learned the value of having such a… silent base. It was not distinct enough to warrant any attention. Perfect for undercover operations. Dalton opened the door, glancing behind him before entering and shutting the door. The Druegen couldn’t help but notice the strange amount of room in the vehicle. Front seats were straight backed and almost a meter away from his knees. It would slowly don on him why this was, to which he stifled a slight chuckle. Dalton removed his hat and revealed his white striking appearance. His hair was an almost golden blond waterfall which seemed to reflect more light than even his eyes. “It is nothing too serious, Warlock” He said whilst scratching his pointed goatee. “You have been attempting to research Revenants for quite some time, no? We have no issue with this, none at all. You are already registered as an Independent entity” He would reach into his large jacket and place a small stack of paper next to her, not able to see the woman’s reaction from the back seat. Not the most optimal view, negotiations always went smoother when one could read the expression of their counterpart. “We do have an issue with attempting to publish such information online. Most believe it to be simple conspiracy theory, others think it an odd setting. Someone has even started a game about it. Not good at all, I’m sure you know. If the Legion or UNSTF wise up and spot this, they will begin to hunt you down. Most certainly not good. Please cease this” Warlock

"...What are the requirements to become an Independent entity?" Marika asked, wondering why she would be allowed to be in the know, but not everyone else. Did they have some kind of quota for how many others should know?
"They will hunt me down on what grounds?" she asked. "I'm publishing truth. Hard, cold facts, that hold up to scrutiny and science. Is that a crime now?"
She shook her head. She was adamant about this, that the world had to know the greater reality of the place that they lived in. There was so much potential for good with this new field of exploration and research, the consequences that she could suffer now seemed very small in comparison to the results for humanity that she thought she was achieving.
"I appreciate the warning, but I'll take the risk." the girl then said.
"They're going to try to resort to dishonest means to try to get me, right? Because as far as I'm aware, they can't legally indict me for anything, because that would imply recognizing that this Rev information isn't just random internet trash and actually a problem, as for formal court records. At least, indicting me in the normal way, hrm." she said.
"Well, I don't care." she said and chuckled. "I'm also capable of bullshit. So it's really just that - a battle of bullshit against bullshit. I'm up for seeing who wins in the end."
"I'm sorry, but just like how they're continuing their stuff in the shadows, I will too. People deserve to know."

"Madam, I am not here to debate philosophy with you. I am no good at it" Dalton glanced out the window and narrowed his eyes. "You speak of the Legion and UNSTF as if they follow the laws of men. The UNSTF makes the laws, The Legion ignores them. Both would do anything to maintain a shroud of secrecy, their very existence depends on it. Not just ours" Dalton leaned forward in his seat, making ample use of the provided room. "The difference between CORPSE and the others is that we are the only…" He paused to think over his words carefully. "...Paragons amongst the Renegades. That is why we sought you out and asked you to stop when we could have easily killed you" Dalton hesitated, sighing before leaning back again. "There is much you do not know. You wonder why they would be suspicious of conspiracy theories, what could be harmful of it? This is a free society, no? No, it is not. Conspiracies are one of our main sources of leads for the supernatural. We have experts who analyze thousands of blogs just like yours, specifically trained to determine what could be likely. Do you think we are unique in doing this? Hm?" Dalton reached into his jacket and produced a small flash drive. It had the CORPSE logo across it. "We strive to safeguard and protect the unknown, whilst seeking to also learn of it. The world is not ready for the monsters to step out of the shadows" He held the flash drive out to Warlock. "We have been monitoring your blog for quite sometime now. We have also been shielding it from any known UNSTF and Legion agents. The evidence can be found on this flash drive" Dalton glanced outside once more before placing a hand over the window. Frost slowly creeped across it, making it opaque. "You wonder why you are considered special? It is simple. You have knowledge we cannot hide. You are highly intelligent and have skills which could be put to good work" Warlock

She shrugged. “I’ll give the flash drive a chance, but just note that I’m still aware that the evidence could’ve been doctored.” she said, as she took it. She was also concerned that the drive might be a tracking device. Or maybe even a bomb. She didn’t know. But just turtling up and being paranoid about absolutely everything wouldn’t lead her anywhere. “But I’m not open to joining CORPSE proper.” she said. “Or, I could, but you’d already know that I would be doing so dishonestly.” “And while this might not be the best situation to talk about philosophy, my stance for not accepting, is.” she added, and sighed. “I do not believe in the despotism of CORPSE. Who made them the people who decide who get to know, and who not?” she started off. "Did they just choose that on their own, upon reaching enough understanding of the situation? Well why can't anyone else do the same and earn that same position interdependently? Why can't... everyone?" “I see CORPSE as the Inquisition, and myself as Gallieo” she added. “The world deserves to know. The world deserves to be able to be choose. And without knowledge, there is no choice. And with no choice, there is no freedom.” “But while we have different views on what to do with this knowledge of the supernatural, we both share the same goal of achieving that knowledge. So, I’m up for still working alongside them as an occasional contractor. I’m just not up for accepting a further deal of tying myself down to their full doctrine.” Sadbot

Dalton clicked his tongue as Warlock continued, despite Dalton’s previous statement. He chuckled a bit after she finished. “You have no idea what it was like to live during the time of Galileo, nor are you anything like him. The church was oppressive and seeped into every facet of life. Artwork, writing, everything was limited because of their beliefs. Well…” Dalton seemed a bit lost in thought, as if thinking back to an old memory. “It was like that most everywhere, with or without the church. No, you have no idea what it was like. CORPSE seeks to protect Revenants by keeping them secret. Most of these men and women do not wish to have a different life, they’re just normal people wishing for normal lives” He placed his hand into his jacket. “You have some strange belief that we are enslaving Revenants in someway, that we are keeping it a secret for a sinister reason. Jeremiah founded it because he knew things the rest of us couldn’t predict. Could you imagine how much worse the American Civil War would have been with Revenants? The Egyptian-Ottoman war? Crimean war? The Austro-Prussian war, both world wars, the Marxist revolutions and more? Do you really think enterprising governments wouldn’t have used Revenants for their own benefits? That everything would have been perfect with complete freedom for all? You are too naive, madam. CORPSE is the only reason that this so called “Inquisition” hasn’t exterminated or enslaved all of Revenants” Dalton would suddenly pull a gun from his jacket, press it against the window, and pull the trigger. A pained grunt could be heard followed the sound of a collapsing body. “The Legion knows where we are. They may be good at combat, but they are shit at tailing. I would recommend driving” Warlock

"Shit." Marika muttered, before kicking a section above the pedals of the vehicle, causing a rifle to drop out of the roof and into the lap of her bosom with a soft bounce. She tossed it aside into the copilot seat, and rapidly slapped the gear shift into reverse. "Shit. Shit, shit." she added, wanting to take this chance to paparazzi some Revenants in action, but without being specifically prepared for it, she didn't have much of a chance to do it. No camera set up, no live stream feed, nothing. And it would've been such great footage too. Gritting her teeth, she maneuvered the car out into the road with a sudden acceleration and a screech, before positioning herself straight and flooring the speed to get out of there as quick as possible. Assuming that these were trained soldiers, she believed that they'd know to try to block her escape, if they were attacking a vehicle that could presumably move a lot quicker than they could. Assuming the worse, and knowing that she wasn't going to be able to juggle sniping the Revs while driving at the same time, she tossed the rifle behind herself for her passenger. "Use it if you have to." she stated, and would try to race them as far away from this place as possible. She could worry about her speeding tickets later - right now, she was focused on survival. Unlike the Revs, she was entirely mortal. They could afford to go kamikaze. She couldn't. Sadbot

With a loud clunk, Dalton loaded a round into the rifle’s chamber. He would take some time to examine the firearm before cocking an eyebrow. “Quite the firepower to be keeping. If the English Police saw you with this, you would be in quite a bit of trouble” Dalton raised the scope to his eye which seemed brighter than before. “If you keep to the main roads, you will have an easier time avoiding them. Police will get involved. Legion doesn’t have the connections we do…” The thunderous boom of the sniper rifle split through the air. It would form a perfect bullet hole in the van’s windshield, striking the back wheel of a Midnight black truck directly in front. The truck spun out of control, skidding just to the right of their Van. Dalton had already positioned himself in between the two front seats with the rifle resting on the center console. “They like the color black. Any trucks with it, avoid or ram them. I will keep an eye on our back” In one fluid movement the man would twist onto his back, the rifle now resting on his left arm. Three more shots were fired with about a minute between each. The screeching of tires and roar of twisting metal slowly faded behind the Van. Dalton lowered his hat to cover his eyes. “Nothing more behind, keep driving. We will leave the city to avoid anymore collateral, police will take care of the cleanup. Once we are sure of our escape, I will contact CORPSE to bring us back in a new vehicle. You still have a mission to do, no?” Warlock
