Northwestern Sector 3 CORPSE Facility. Well....one of them.Why. The. Fuck. Am. I. Here?Of course, being apart of CORPSE meant being relocated every five seconds on a whim due to various meetings and conventions, luckily on the corporation's dime. But that didn't mean Kajiya had to like being woken up at 6 AM, and told to be on a plane by 8 AM, heading to god knows what country. And for what? For some meet and greet between all the newest recruits, from all the divisions. A chance for "recruits to get to know each other in a casual fashion" and to build camaraderie and morale, and prevent any social barriers from forming between the Sectors. In layman's terms, what did that mean? That meant spending a mandatory six hours in some reception hall with a bunch of ghost people he didn't know, and had little to no desire to know. And if he was particularly "lucky", they might even have Icebreaker events! You know, the type of activity that no one wants to do, and does absolutely nothing to help you learn about the person after you, besides just increase the level of awkwardness already apparent. I want to go home. So, what does Kajiya do? Dressed in his trademark baggy black pants, combat boots, and blue hoodie with rather...colorful sleeves, Kajiya took his right position in the very back of the reception hall, promptly ignoring everybody as he spent time doodling in his sketchbook. Normally, he would simply dump his mind and emotion on the paper in some half attempted desire to draw something that actually...looked like something. Usually to no avail, in which the end result would look something reminiscent to a three year old's attempt to color within the lines of a coloring book. But today was different. Now, he had an actual desire to sketch something. It had come to him on the car ride to the venue, and he just had to do something with it. Pencil in hand, his right hand moved in practiced strokes across the paper, as he found himself in the midst of drawing what seemed to be a small shop. He was just about to add a bit of scenery when "Mr Hogosha....you do realize the point of this event is to socialize, yes? I don't believe you can do that when you're cramped up here in the corner with a book." A female's voice said, her body hidden behind his sketchbook, prompting Kajiya to lower it to see her. Ugh. Hilda. And yes, the female entourage who had driven him to the site of this borefest was about as aesthetically...unfortunate as the name suggested. Perhaps it was the mole right below the left side of her nose that seemed to be everywhere at once, no matter what angle you looked at her from. Or maybe the stringy, graying hair that looked like she just rolled out bed, slapped on a pantsuit and got into the car. Or maybe it was...well, some things don't need a description. Needless to say, Kajiya hated her almost as much as he hated Meet and Greets and Waiting Rooms. Which is to say, a lot. "I'm here, aren't I? And I don't want to talk to people, so just let me have fun my own way." The teenager responded, rolling his eyes before his gaze dipped back to the paper. However, all of a sudden he was hoisted up by some unseen force. All he could see was Hilda's finger pointed up in the air, a red flame dancing across the fingertip. Magic."Don't be such a child! Talk to a few people, have a drink! Non-Alcoholic of course, and maybe dance with a girl. Or guy. I don't really care either way. Now...enjoy yourself!" She said, swiping her hand across her body and sending Kajiya tumbling forward, nearly falling flat on his face as he struggled to catch himself. Grumbling a few unsavory words under his breath about Hilda, Kajiya sighed as he tried to make heads or tails of the people around him. He considered sneaking out, but knowing Hilda she'd bring him back here tied up if she had to, since it was her job...and god forbid she let anything past her. So, he had to make the most of this god forsaken journey. What a drag. Post Count: 1 | Meilius Varkala

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant This was... new. With a glass of juice in his hands, Meilius slowly made his way through the hall, hoping to not disturb the numerous, very numerous fellow Revenants swarming the floor from all sides. Much like everyone else here, he was called up by his Sector command to join the meet and greet - and the reasons why this was necessary didn't fly over his head. After all, from here on out, they were all in the same boat, no matter which sector they belonged to, and if they're going to be working with each other from here on out, it makes sense for CORPSE to try making their recruits like each other. Considering that most of them didn't have anything to return to in the real world, either - Meilius certainly did not - they're going to have to rely on their fellow Revenants for any connections or friendships they want to make, too. And, finally, the young Deogen was well aware that CORPSE was facing some... serious difficulties in manpower. Brutal fighting for the last decades has severely thinned their ranks, to a point where many missions could no longer afford limiting themselves to a single Sector. In a situation where most of their peers are young recruits, it makes sense to try to make up for their inexperience with fostered camaraderie. Meilius certainly wouldn't have minded getting into conversation with some of his fellow Revenants, introduce himself, maybe even get to know his peers a little better - but this was one of those situations where physical issues would start to set in. Unlike others, he couldn't just walk up to someone, say "Hi!" and expect a response - pulling out a notebook and sketching a greeting wouldn't get anyone's attention in what was essentially one huge party. Nor could he expect anyone to know sign language... It was starting to get frustrating. Some people were pulling up tables and opening up board games to play with their peers, a karaoke bar was awaiting challengers on the other side of the hall. Meilius had no doubts - he wanted to try out at least something today, but without anyone else to play with, it'd start getting boring really quickly... Alright, looks like he's going to need to be more aggressive. Meilius finished his glass of juice and placed it on the nearest table, then dove into the mass of people. There's got to be someone who's still free and isn't already in a group with anyone... Ah, here we go! A young Banshee with bleached skin, hair and very baggy clothing, the expression on their face betraying that they were even more stupified than Meilius was. The young blonde Revenant didn't hesitate an instant - he walked forward and tugged onto the man's sleeve, then pointed to one of the nearby tables, where a few people were playing Jenga.

Kajiya wasn't one hundred percent a spoilsport. Sure, he was a moody teenager with every right to be, given that well...the nature of Banshees kind of allowed for a bit extra in regards to moodiness. So as he headed out to the main dance floor, he did so with a renewed interest. If he was gonna be forced to participate, and sneaking off somewhere to take a nap for several hours wasn't exactly an option with Hilda the Wildebeast stalking around, ensuring that he was here, in this room, for the whole day. And it wasn't like he could just outright leave the venue altogether. For he couldn't drive, and had no car. So, if he was going to be stuck here, he might as well embrace it and have fun. Brooding isn't fun for anyone, especially the person brooding. Yet....where could he begin? As he was beginning to see, people who had been talking for about an hour now already began to break off into their respective cliques, making their own private parties to go do fun stuff with. So now what was he supposed to do? Hilda wanted him to fucking make friends, but now everyone already had their own groups. What was he gonna do? Intrude? He couldn't do that....well, he could, but he really didn't want to. That would be awkward. About as awkward as Kajiya shuffling in place, looking around, practically lost in the sea of people as they moved off to make the best of the night with their new acquaintances. Kajiya was about ready to call it acquits and dejectedly move back to his corner to draw, when he felt a rather strong tug on his sleeve. What the fu-As Kajiya turned, he came face to face with a boy who seemed to be around...well, either around his age or a bit younger. But was that even accurate now that he was a Revenant. He himself hadn't changed in appearance since he became a Revenant, and even his current appearance was completely different from what he had looked like in life. So for all he knew, the boy in front of him could look fifteen or something, but be like..forty eight. Just the thought of that made Kajiya a bit dizzy. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but be a bit confused and caught off guard given the guy's way of getting his attention. No hi, no "My name is". Just tug and point to a table where some game was set up. Some game he had never seen before. Now, Kajiya considered his English pretty good, and last he checked "Jenga", was not a word. But then again, who knew nowadays, with languages constantly evolving and such. So what was he to do? Go back to his corner and draw, or play "Jenga" with this strange blond kid who didn't want to speak Smiling softly, he gestured to the table and walked over with Meilius. Moving to sit down, his intense red gaze regarded Meilius, trying his best to look friendly despite his ghastly appearance. Kajiya wasn't cruel, nor was he intentionally mean, after all. He wanted to make friends like any other teenager. But well...when you looked like a ghost, even amongst Revenants, it was hard. "My name's Kajiya Hogosha. What's yours?" He started off, before his gaze drifted back to the cylindrical container that contained the Jenga pieces, "Um...I've never played this before. Do you know how to play?"If not, then this was going to be a loooooong night. Post Count: 2 | Meilius Varkala

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Meilius's gambit had all the potential to go horribly, horribly wrong. Revenants still acted like people, after all, they still partially were people. And people don't respond well to things like being broken out of their comfort zone and tugged to play with someone they had never get before. Meilius could have gotten backhanded, punched, or at least told off, and yet he decided to try his luck and drag this man with him anyway. As it turns out, the Banshee, a fellow teen just like him, did not resist and decided to follow - right as the two of them approached the Jenga table, he introduced himself. Kajiya Hogosha. That sounds Japanese, for sure. Meilius smiled and nodded to inform that he registered what his peer said - including the following question on how they're supposed to play. Really, he didn't know?.. Meilius looked around, thinking on how he'd be able to explain the crux of the game in the simplest way possible, until he resolved to just pick up the game's box. He pointed at the box art, which depicted a tower of small wooden blocks crumbling from many of its pieces having been lost, then wagged his finger at the Jenga towers standing on the table. While most of them were fully intact and awaiting someone to challenge them, one of them already had two Revenants playing and pulling out pieces from the tower in turns. If that doesn't work, then he'll have to start writing out the game's rules to Kajiya in order to explain them, or at least show the game's manual... Speaking of writing, Meilius pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and swiftly wrote down a note in order to show it to his peer: My name is Meilius Varkala.
Nice to meet you!

Maybe he shouldn't have asked. A simple inquiry regarding the rules of Jenga quickly turned into a game of Charades as Meilius found quite a creative way of showing Kajiya how to play without words or the rule pamphlet that came with the game, that probably would have saved each of them a few minutes of time explaining. Nevertheless, Kajiya's gaze honed in on the picture on the box of a tower crumbling, then to the already stacked towers awaiting two people to play the game. Was the goal of the game to make the tower fall down first? Judging by the looks of concentration on the faces of other people playing the game, and the way they cheered when they managed to remove a block without the tower falling down, he managed to piece together that maybe it wasn't a game as to who could knock it down first, but who could take away the most pieces without it falling down? At least, that's what it looked like to Kajiya. What a weird game. He thought to himself as he found himself facing Meilius once again, wondering why the guy wouldn't talk to him. Maybe he couldn't speak English? Or thought that he was some fresh off the boat Japanese guy who couldn't speak English. He had quite the few of those types of people when he first visited one of the CORPSE Outposts in England. But as he examined Meilius further, the expression on his face and the way he tried to explain to Kajiya what the game was about didn't strike him as the look of someone who was exasperated at teaching a foreigner a concept without language. Such a thought was later confirmed by the note Meilus slid over to him. Unfurling it, Kajiya's red eyes drifted downwards as he read its contents. "My name is Meilius Markala. Nice to meet you!"He reread it for a moment, before looking back at Meilius. Then, for some odd reason, it hit him. Was he unable to speak? It would probably explain the weird way in which Meilius had gotten Kajiya's intention in the first place, along with the pointing, and now the note. Kajiya had never met a mute person before, and kind of felt bad for the guy. While Kajiya hadn't made any friends here yet because he didn't like huge crowds, and wasn't much of a party person, stuff like a meet and greet must be awful for someone who couldn't even speak to begin with. Who was gonna sit and trade notes with some scrawny blond kid, when there were other people around? Well....that's what I'm doing. It was. The fact alone made Kajiya smile. Now that he was sure Meilius wasn't being quiet out of malicious intent (or at least, he was pretty sure he wasn't), Kajiya allowed himself to relax, and scooted over to the nearest tower. Inwardly, he cursed his parents for not allowing him to continue those sign language lessons that his school offered back in the third grade. He remembered actually being interested in it, and his parents shot it down for "not wanting to waste money on something he would probably fail anyway". Okay, maybe that was more Kajiya's fault, rather than his parents' fault. But still! It would be certainly useful right about now. "Do you have a phone? If you feel comfortable, we can text each other if you want to tell me something. It'll save you the trouble of writing, and save paper. Y'know...save the environment and shit..." He finished off rather awkwardly, before looking to the tower "Okay, I'm done being weird. I think I get how this game works. Ready to play?"Post Count: 3 | Meilius Varkala

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant This was going... well. Meilius couldn't tell whether he explained Jenga well, all he could glean his guess from was how Kajiya reacted to his explanation - but the teenage Banshee did not question him any further. Heck, his face even struck a smile, however faint, although whether this came because of having learned how to play or because of something he realized about his peer was difficult to tell. Watching Meilius struggle with getting his point across, Kajiya pointed out a possible alternate solution - why not use his phone instead of a piece of paper? The young Deogen widened his eyes, blinked a few times and began scrambling around his pockets. Right, he did have a phone, inherited from his past mortal life, if only so he'd be able to communicate with his parents and uncle over the distance when needed... since he never really got to use it often, however, it was merely a flip phone. Typing something meaningful out with its keyboard was too much of a chore, that's why Meilius decided to just resort to a notebook. Although, he did amuse himself a little by playing Snake on the phone after escaping from home as a newly born Revenant... for a few days, until it lost its charge and he had to stash it. If it's to prove to Kajiya that he does have a phone and he can use it, though... As the two teens made their way to one of the wooden block towers awaiting someone to tear them down by accident, Meilius frantically typed out a message in the instant messaging screen, before turning the device around and displaying it to his peer:
Is this better? Sorry, I don't use my phone often.
|
Meilius smiled and offered a brief thumbs-up as soon as Kajiya stated that he's ready to play, and, without further ado, initiated the match by pulling out the first piece. Come to think of it... this makes you wonder - do Revenant powers hinder or enhance a game of Jenga?

Did this guy die in 2003?Kajiya considered himself rather sharp for thinking of the texting thing. Not only did he confirm that Meilius couldn't speak (for otherwise, wouldn't he have responded to the texting alternative with something more than surprise and digging through his pockets?), but he also thought he might have made just it easier for the guy to communicate. After all, Kajiya couldn't imagine being a mute. Not being able to speak? To watch other people communicate so easily, but you're stuck with sign language, and when that fails, writing sentences on sticky notes? He figured that must suck. Maybe texting people would help make it a little easier? At least, he thought so until Meilius pulled that relic out of his pocket. Okay, maybe calling it a relic was a bit too harsh. After all, Kajiya had a flip phone once upon a time, and in the grand scheme of things they aren't necessarily obsolete in the world just yet. They haven't reached landline level yet, or cassette level of obsolete. But, it was still not what he expected when he mentioned texting. Nevertheless, given his suggestion had worked, regardless of the time and technology difference between Meilius's flip phone and Kajiya's Samsung, all was good. Smiling softly, he commented, "Perfect. If that's easier for you, maybe we can do it that way, and I can give you my number so you can text me stuff. If not, the notes are cool too. I don't know a lot of sign language though...sorry bout that." He added at the end as he took out his own phone, laying it screen down on the table. And without further delay, the game began, with Meilius taking out the first piece from the tower, his concentration making it clear that this indeed was a game where he had to remove the pieces without the tower falling. Furrowing his brow towards the tower, his hand steadily reached out, examining it to look for a sturdy part of the tower. Picking his piece carefully, he slid it out of its' place, freeing it from his confines. A small smile crossed his features, as he looked to Meilius with triumph on his face. Just as the tower fell to pieces. I knew we should have fucking played Uno Kajiya thought to himself as he heavily sighed, leaning back against the chair "Okay, so we established that I suck at this game.....wanna try again?" He asked as he looked at the scattered pieces of the tower, almost in disbelief that he could lose so quickly. Was that some sort of record? Was he famous now for being pathetic? "Also, what Section are you apart of? I'm an Investigator for Section One. I promise...I'm better at being an Investigator, than I am playing Jenga. At least, I fucking hope so.." Kajiya added, given he truly had no idea how he'd perform as an Investigator. Unlike other Investigators, he didn't hold any experience to his name when he spoke of his title. That's all his position was so far. A title. And he sure hoped to the Somnium that he didn't suck at that as hard as he did at Jenga. Post Count: 4 | Meilius Varkala

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Okay, so, maybe Revenant powers aren't of that much use in a game of Jenga after all - it took Kajiya his first and only move to hand Meilius a sudden, unexpected victory. The young blonde Revenant recoiled back slightly when the tower crumbled into pieces, but grinned slightly right as his peer lamented about the loss. It's odd, he expected to be the one to lose the match in the end - at least, if Vulture were to be believed and Deogen like him were truly that clumsy. But, oh well... Meilius's smile cleared and the boy gave a solemn shake of his head when Kajiya went the extra mile and declared that he sucks at this game, however. Nobody "sucks" at these types of things, not when you can and do get better with practice. Sure, it's a pretty humiliating loss, but one shouldn't expect to do well when they try a game for the first time... Faced with a question on which Sector he is from, Meilius didn't hesitate to answer - he raised his hand and sticked out three fingers, then tapped on the handle of his sword, safely attached to his belt. Even Vulture was rather surprised when he learned that a man this young looking, and a Deogen, was in the threat neutralization sector, and he had to agree that he didn't look like a warrior - so he could only assume that Kajiya was not going to swallow that easily, either. Or he will, who knows? Despite everything that was told to him, Meilius believed he made the right choice - or, more rather, the least bad choice. He wasn't fit to be an investigator and he wasn't fit to be a researcher. That was something he could stand by. Ah, wait, he has to come up with something else for the two of them to do, too... With one hand, Meilius shoved all the fallen pieces of the Jenga tower back into one pile in order to painstakingly rebuild it, whereas with the other, he pointed out a few other activities which stumbled across his vision - a few people were playing card games at another table, some people were playing Monopoly, and of course there was the dance floor and the karaoke bar, too...

Now there was a shock. When he asked the small looking blond guy what section he was apart of, he expected something along the lines of " I am this and this from Sector Two" or maybe even being apart of Sector One, but some other division of Sector One. But Sector Three? Yet, as Meilius's hand drifted to his hip and tapped the hilt of his sword, Kajiya understood what Meilius said to be true. It wasn't that he thought the guy was lying or anything. He just didn't expect someone so young and so....well...nonthreatening to be a soldier. An elite soldier at that. But then again...the same could be said for me.Kajiya looked down at himself, in his rather colorful hoodie, and realized about twenty minutes ago he was in a corner drawing in a sketchbook, so he wasn't exactly the definition of "the mysterious Investigator" type. While he considered Meilius a bit young for his position, there were probably a million more people who considered Kajiya himself too young for an Investigator position amongst Sector One, especially given his lack of credentials and his less than adequate school grades. Hell, the fact that the guy was kinda like him, in having some redeemable quality that allowed him to get such a cool position made Kajiya like him more. Seems like he made a good choice in allowing himself to be led by a mute teenager. Looking down at the broken tower, he frowned once again, now determined in a way to show Meilius that he wasn't incompetent. Muttering some words in a strange tongue under his breath, he pointed at the pile of pieces that Meilius had collected, and one by one, they began to float in the air, and then rapidly hit the table, the tower gradually rebuilding itself as Kajiya directed it with magic, muttering a strange incantation under his breath all the while. Within moments, the tower was complete once more, as if the pale teenager hadn't knocked it down at all. "One more game. I'll do better, I promise." Kajiya said, silently wondering why he was making such an effort to be friendly. More often than not, it took a good half an hour for Kajiya to raise up the willpower to get out of bed, nevertheless come here by his own free will (which he totally didn't). So why was he now trying to become friends with someone who couldn't even talk to him? The truth was, even the laziest of people will put in the best effort to find companionship if they were lonely enough. And stuck here at this party, with a bunch of people he didn't know, he wanted to at least make one friend, to ease the time. "So how did you get here? CORPSE that is...like, what's your story?" Kajiya asked out of curiosity, and simple desire to make conversation. But then halfway through he realized that it might be more of a burden to ask a mute person to talk about their life, which would put them in the position of having to write out an answer. So Kajiya quickly added, a bit clumsily: "You don't have to ans-answer if you don't want to! I..well..y'know...I don't wanna make you do extra work."The more he spoke, the more he prayed that he turned out to be a better Investigator than he was at handling everything else in life. Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Before Meilius could finish collecting all the pieces back into one place and rebuild the Jenga tower, the little wooden blocks suddenly began to slip from his hands and float into the air, before swirling back into place and rebuilding themselves from scratch. For a second, the thought slipped into the Revenant's mind that maybe this was a some sort of enchantment placed upon the Jenga, to make it rebuild itself as soon as the tower collapses - it certainly wouldn't be too out of place in a society to which magic and supernatural feats were the norm... It was Kajiya, however, who displayed his telekinetic magic skills by casting an incantation and reconstructing the Jenga tower all by himself. Meilius peeked at it from side to side, but did not notice even a single mistake in how it was supposed to be built. As soon as his incantation finished, the Banshee Revenant declared that he can go for one more round - and is not going to make himself look like a fool this time. So he wants to try again? Meilius blinked a few times, then cracked a grin and raised a thumbs-up. Why not? Meilius could definitely go for an another round and he wouldn't mind seeing if his peer can do any better than last time. Without any further ado, he reached forward and pulled out a piece in the center of the tower. Which is when Kajiya raised something which got Meilius's thoughts to come to a halt. It was a question which he should have expected, perhaps - how come he's ended up here, in CORPSE, and as a Revenant? Meilius pulled out his phone, holding it in his hands for a second or two, before placing it back on the table and taking out his notebook instead. This was going to be too complex to write on his cellphone. While giving Kajiya the time to make his turn at Jenga, the blonde Revenant wrote down a few sentences on his notes: Well I suppose it all started when I got hit by a truck and yet refused to die

Yikes. The poor kid got hit by a truck? Kajiya wasn't super squeamish. Sure, he had a fear of insects when he was a little kid, and now he wasn't exactly the biggest fan of horror movies, but he wouldn't describe himself as "squeamish". But getting hit full force by a truck and surviving to feel the pain? Fucking ouch. But then again, Kajiya guessed his own "death" wasn't exactly the most painless on paper. One would expect being shot in the chest to be like a wave of pain, but in actuality it wasn't. His whole body felt like it was on fire for a split second, yes, but then he just went numb. Like his pain receivers went on full overdrive before his body just shut down. Hell, he wasn't even fully aware of most of the events that went on after the bullet hit his chest. He was fading in and out of consciousness by the time his parents had arrived, and was fully out by the time he arrived to the hospital. That was probably for the best. The one thing Kajiya was grateful for, was the fact that he never got the chance to see his brother fully after he got shot. He saw the moment Zane was hit by the bullet, and how he fell off the counter. And...that was it. Kajiya's own critical condition spared him the horror of seeing his younger brother in a pool of blood, and his own parents' cruel ousting of the boy spared him from the private funeral service for Zane. His own imagination of his brother's corpse was more comforting than the real thing. He didn't need reality in that instance. The pain of losing him hurt enough on his own. Wait...how did he get on this subject? With a jump, Kajiya snapped out of his trance, suddenly becoming alert after zoning out completely for a good thirty seconds. His therapist said that such occasions were normal with patients who suffered intense trauma in short periods of time, and that the memories were perfectly healthy, as long as they worked on the techniques to help him deal with them. Despite it, Kajiya's "moments" (as he called the trances) usually only occurred when he was by himself long enough in his room. Long enough to get lost in thought. It never happened in public. Usually because Kajiya had been actively trying to busy himself enough in public to prevent losing himself in his own memories. But with the subject matter turning to death, it was almost as if Kajiya was asking for it. Which he was, to a degree, since he was the one who brought up the whole origins thing anyway. Shaking his head for a moment, as if to banish the last vestiges of the bad thoughts away, Kajiya forced a smile to ease Meilius, who was by no doubt second guessing why the fuck he would sit with some weird bedsheet pale kid. "Sh..Shit....that must've hurt. A lot. Sorry to hear that, man. But hey...at least we have cool powers now, right?" Kajiya said, trying to make light of the situation as his hand neared the Jenga Tower. This time, his performance seemed to improve, as he managed to remove a wooden strip without the entire tower crumbling down in one sad display of failure. Smiling down at the Jenga piece as he moved it to the side, his gaze drifted back to Meilius as he awaited his next move. "I got shot during a robbery. But y'know, the gunman didn't aim nearly well enough. So now I'm here...trying to repay the people in CORPSE who helped me not lose myself to my demons..." He said, trailing off near the end as he felt himself slipping away into his memories once again. This time, he managed to catch himself, and leaned forward in his chair, forcing himself to change the subject. "So, you like sports?" He said in the smoothest way possible. Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Meilius's brief inscription left Kajiya lost in thought almost instantly - clearly, something about his words left an impact on him. He was no telepath, he couldn't delve into someone's thoughts, but the young Revenant could only assume that it brought up some bad memories. The Jenga game froze to a halt, but Meilius did not even try to point that out - he just waited, with his hands placed on the table and eyes watching the Banshee, and gave him the time to get everything out of his system. The teen clearly struggled with a lot, after all. Kajiya finally spoke again, expressing just how sorry he is to hear that and trying to make up for it by saying that they at least have cool powers in exchange. Meilius didn't share the sudden enthusiasm which his peer mustered, however, his eyes simply turned to the side. Sure, they're definitely superhuman now... it it also gets pretty lonely being forever separated from the rest of the world, doesn't it? Kajiya, as it turns out, died from a far more wanton death - shot during a robbery, surviving only thanks to the robber's inaccuracy and thus ending up in CORPSE. To not lose himself to his demons, which a Banshee like him certainly has plenty of. The few other Revenants of that type whom Meilius got the chance to meet in CORPSE before were... well, stingy would be an understatement now that he thinks about it. Kajiya was a lot more mellow. The blonde Revenant leaned forward, taking his turn right after his peer, and awkwardly pulled out a block from the other side of the tower. It shook, slightly, but remained upright at least for now. Alright, one more question. Does he like... sports? The sincerity of the question, however random, brought a faint smile on Meilius's face, and he picked up his pen again.

The lopsided picture of a basketball was more than enough to bring a smile to Kajiya's face, and in a few moments he was laughing. Which was great because the nature of the new conversation proved more than enough to turn Kajiya's mood, and bring him fully back to reality. Leaning forward, he smiled and spoke, ”You know something, you're pretty damn cool. And I don't say that alot. People tend to keep away from me because I'm a Banshee....my aura being a bit more potent than most. Glad you're here with me though. Makes this Meet and Greet...not so bad.“ He said as he found his hand drifting once more, a bit steadier than it had been before. Furrowing his brow, Kajiya swiftly slipped yet another Jenga piece from the tower, causing it to wobble ever so slightly before righting itself, remaining stable for the time being as Kajiya placed the piece to the side. "So you're a Soldier, huh? I considered applying for Sector Three....but considering my background, I'm surprised I managed to snag Investigator. Honestly, I think if it weren't for my magical ability, my application would have been completely thrown out." He said as he held his right hand out to the table. After muttering a short incantation, a small inky circle would appear on the table, before widening, forming a perfect sphere just a few feet away from their Jenga Tower. Inside the circle was a form of murky darkness, the blackness swirling and meshing with each other, as if one were looking into swamp water. Without further hesitation, Kajiya plunged his left hand into the sphere, the sound of his hand trespassing into the portal making a sound like water as well. Except when Kajiya withdrew his hand moments later, it was completely dry...and holding a leather bound book no less. As soon as Kajiya withdrew his hand with the book, the sphere would become smaller, collapsing on itself until it was completely gone, that section of the table back to normal. Kajiya smiled at Meilius as he let the book hover in midair, opening up to a random page. "Teleportation Magic is cool, huh? It's my favorite, to be honest with ya. So, you said you "died" in a car accident, right? That makes you a Deogen, right?" Since his "test" with Investigator Karris, Kajiya had been reading up on CORPSE's Revenant classifications, and how one's manner of "death" often decided their Revenant classification. He always knew how he himself ended up a Banshee, for that was explained to him shortly after he was found by CORPSE. But he had never heard of an Onryo before Karris revealed himself to be one, so he figured that would be enough cause for a bit of research. "So you're fast, then? Is that why you're a swordsman?" Kajiya asked, genuinely interested as he leaned forward, the Grimoire that floated in air besides him moving slightly with him. Post Count: 7 | Meilius Varkala

Meilius Varkala Silent Revenant Meilius's quick doodle amused Kajiya more than the young Revenant expected - the Banshee cracked up and replied that meeting such a "damn cool" person really livened up the Meet and Greet for him. Damn cool... That's new. Actually, pretty much everything here felt so... new to him. And Kajiya clearly expressed how unfamiliar the thought of having someone to talk to so casually was, too - it was not easy for the average Revenant to talk to a Banshee and yet remain at ease, after all. Those people were... rather intense. And commonly members of Sector 3 - but Kajiya was not. He explained that his Revenance manifested itself in magical ability rather than physical, and it was what managed to pull him through the exams despite everything else being subpar. To display his powers, he cast a portal on the table, pulling a book from within and holding it in his arms. The way Kajiya expressed his path to becoming a member of CORPSE, it gave the idea that his magical powers were just good enough to get him accepted into the organization - but to Meilius, they were amazing. Perhaps it was because his own Spectre Magic was practically nonexistent, but seeing a person pull entire books out of nowhere still struck a chord with him. Meilius, on the other hand, was a Deogen, a Revenant born out of an accidental death - and he gave a confident nod when Kajiya asked him on whether it were the case. Once asked about whether its speed was what made him choose to become a swordsman, however, he hesitated somewhat. Ultimately, however, he still gave a nod, but it was only partially true. Shrouded in mist and releasing it in times of danger, a Deogen was protected from ranged attacks, but it wasn't fit for attacking from range, either. On the other hand, Meilius received training in melee self-defence before his Revenance, so even if he wasn't a type of Revenant more accustomed to melee combat, he would have likely gravitated towards that regardless. And shooting a gun requires a lot of precision, whereas a Deogen... Taking his turn in Jenga, Meilius reached towards the center of the tower yet again, but his awkwardly moving hand accidentally brushed across the side, tipping the entire thing over and letting it fall. That. That's what a Deogen does. Clumsy, just like Vulture explained. Meilius let out a long sigh.

Oh.Kajiya was so engaged in the conversation that the Jenga game had become more of an unconscious background activity than anything else. So when he heard the crash of Jenga pieces, he immediately looked down in alarm, as if worried that he, for the second time, had caused the tower to inevitably come crashing down. But, as he looked down and began to put the pieces together (metaphorically, of course), he came to realize that it was Meilius who had knocked the tower down. Not him. Which meant.... He won! Kajiya smiled softly, and once again muttered a spell to put the Jenga pieces back together, the boy's red gaze dancing as he followed the strips of wood come together again in an organized tower, his right pointer finger guiding them ever so gently with his soft movements. Upon the tower reassembling, Kajiya broke eye contact with it, his gaze shifting back to Meilius, a playful, mischievous smile on his face. ”So I lost one, and won one. Now, as much as I would love to settle the score with another game....I can think of more interesting ways....“ Kajiya said as he got up and looked around for the exit, noticing that dear old Hilda was nowhere to be seen. Which was absolutely perfect. "So I have a confession. I absolutely suck at combat. My initiation exam with Investigator Karris probably would have went better if I was high on hard drugs and blind. You're....you're Sector Three. Which means you have to be good at combat, right? It also means that you might know,or be able to figure out your way around this facility, right?" Kajiya said in a hushed tone as he leaned over the table, to ensure no "unwanted" eavesdroppers were listening in on their conversation. "So what do you say...we sneak out this party, find a training facility in this place and you show me a bit of that Sector Three training so I don't suck as much, huh? If you help me, I'll like....buy you food or something, I 'unno. We'll make it work. Come on, whaddya say?" The Banshee asked, warming up to his newfound friend considerably. Usually, he'd never be the one to offer to train. His code of conduct, which prohibited him from participating in prolonged strenuous activity (completely due to laziness) didn't support such pointless topics as "training". But now was different. He was an Investigator now. Something he had wanted for the longest. Yet, attached to that position and desire was a real world danger, the likes of which he had never seen before. Investigator Karris was a monster, Spectra influence or not. He had defeated Kajiya without so much as a struggle, and had it not been an illusion imposed on him, he was sure that he would have died that day. He knew he had to improve, and was desperate for any opportunity to improve upon his skills past just the magical field. So, he chose the mute kid from Sector 3 to teach him how to actually be competent in battle. Post Count: 8 | Meilius Varkala
