Sure, this was wrong on so many levels. Kajiya, a new Investigator for Sector One, an exclusive group that he was able to be accepted into by the skin of his teeth. And now he was doing something that would most surely get him in trouble? Did he want to get kicked out of the only place he knew that accepted him? Kajiya wasn't technically an orphan, but he kind of was. After all, his parents fervently believed he was dead, and there was no way he could go back home. And he had no family who lived nearby...and not like they would believe he was who he said he was....he looked so different, after all. CORPSE was all he really had.
So why was he doing this after all? Meeting with a strange woman from YouTube who got a few scientific awards for her work on researching Revenants and the Somnium? Hell, he didn't even know her name. Only the strange alias she went by: "Warlock". Sounds like something straight out of a DnD game.
But what if she knows something about the extents of magic? About something that could help Zane?
That's right. That was why he was here. He needed some answers...something to show it was possible. And he knew CORPSE wouldn't help him with it. Kajiya was ever grateful to CORPSE for taking him in, and to certain officials, like Mrs. Lane, for making his transition from being on the streets so smooth, and for helping him take the first steps to recovery. But he knew the whole organization wasn't like that. He wasn't that delusional...he met too many CORPSE assholes for that. He didn't join CORPSE as an Investigator because he thought of the organization as some divine power doing the Somnium's work, or some shit like that. He joined to make a difference in his own way, to be the good type of CORPSE Officer, like Mrs. Lane.
Which he couldn't do if he were fired before his first mission. But he plunged on, for he knew to meet this Warlock person could possibly give him the answers he needed. Even if it meant losing his job, and the only life he knew since the change. He only hoped that the contact information he had found on Google for this guy/girl/creature was correct, and that he hadn't paid twenty dollars for an Uber across town to meet some fifty seven year old woman named "Patricia Warlock", like something out of a dating site horror story.
So, as the car pulled up outside a local cafe he knew, Kajiya stepped out onto the sidewalk, his intense red gaze looking out at the darkening sky above him
"It's gonna rain..." He muttered to himself, his tone soft as the Uber pulled away from the curb, riding off into town. He loved the rain. Stormy weather had always been his favorite, and the feeling was only amplified since becoming a Revenant. Maybe because he was a Banshee or something. Maybe this "Warlock" would know that too.
Without wasting any time, Kajiya pushed open the doors to the cafe, his pale, ghost like skin shining in the artificial lighting of the eatery, his red eyes shifting from side to side as he looked for anyone who fit the person he saw on that one YouTube video.
