Lightning filled the sky as rain disrupted the mud and foliage. Every step he took brought him closer and closer to the ground, with little regard for the soil coating his jacket. Eventually he slowed to an inch deep crawl, just barely keeping his head above the ground. A hand shot up, telling the person behind him to stop. “When the thunder sounds, continue to move” He said with his strange, latin accent. “Keep close to the mud. I know you must breathe, but try your best” Several minutes passed until finally a roar cracked across the sky. It lasted just long enough for the two to make it past a small contingence of men. Each wore a black uniform with a flat and reflective face place. The armor they were adorned in took away any indicator of race, gender, or build. They were the faceless Legionaries of The Legion, highly trained killing machines who would not hesitate to end the duo. “This is a good place to stop. The vantage point is just up ahead” Dalton said as he rolled over onto his back. “I believe now is a good time for a...how you say, briefing? They were scant on details for a reason, my young friend” Dalton reached into his jacket pocket and produced a small silver pistol. “Consider this a tour of the Legion. Keep your eyes opened, observe the enemy and learn their patterns. The Legion is strong, but they lack tact. Like very smart Gorillas” Dalton loaded the pistol, cocked it, and clicked on the safety. “If worse comes to worse, use this” He handed Lan the pistol. “If you don’t think you can escape, escape the easy way. Legion is not gentle, but death is” He tapped on his wide brimmed hat. “Ready to continue?” lan

Lan looked up to the big man, Dalton, and took the pistol with a sweaty hand, accidentally brushing against Dalton's hand with their own. "sorry, I, uhh, tend to use heat packs on them before I get in a fight. cold hands are terrible to fight with." Lan added.
the Hothands hotwarmers also just felt nice, though, but Lan decided not to mention that part. it didn't seem particularly relevant. He also considered bringing up the fact that gorillas were very smart, and that he had in fact recently seen a news article about a gorilla watching a movie only to begin crying by the end, proving their emotional capacity - but again, it didn't seem very smart.
Lan looked out towards the black uniforms with their reflective face plates. For some, they were considered creepy, he remembered hearing from casual eavesdropping, but for Lan, it was actually a bit of a relief. the most important part of assassination is distancing oneself from their target and eliminating them without hesitation or regret - both could hurt performance on the job. However, the uniforms the Legionaries had... made it just that much easier.
Lan nodded to Dalton's question with a disarmingly friendly smile. "of course! Lead the way."

The wide brimmed hat tilted slightly as Dalton nodded. “Good, keep close and stay down” The pair would continue along the ground for a few minutes before Dalton lifted his fist. Slowly the lanky Druegan crept to a kneel, revealing the massive drop a mere meter and a half away. He’d beckon for Lan to raise as well. Rising from the thick canopy of tropical trees was a fenced off clearing around the size of a football field. Plastic tarps had been scattered across various areas on the field, along with several Quonset huts and tents. Heavily armored vehicles were parked outside of the base atop hastily erected concrete slabs. Dozens of Legionaries were dotted around the encampment. Dalton reached into his jacket and produced a small rectangle with a viewing port on one side. “When the Legion is contracted to an area, they begin to establish a temporary outpost. Quite efficient. They stick to lesser developed countries to avoid legal issues. War crimes are not just uncommon, but often expected” Dalton handed Lan the device, which turned out to be some sort of auto-correcting Binocular device. “That being said, they are not exactly… Hm, evil? Well, they do evil things but not out of a desire to. They are like a machine and simply do what they know to do. Most of these men are former Soldiers, Officers, PMC, and more. The Legion not only offers them familiarity, but power beyond their wildest dreams. Of course they rarely mention what exactly Revenance involves…” Dalton pointed to a vehicle which trudged along the muddy roads quite slowly. “That APC there is more heavily armored than the others. Notice how it struggles to move through the road? They keep essential items in such vehicles. Not personnel, personnel are expected to welcome a fight. Only items…” Dalton leaned forward. “That’s the most difficult part of dealing with the Legion. A simple shot to the head won’t kill their officers. It’ll only make them seek blood” He gave a side glance to Lan. “Any questions?” lan

Lan kept put as Dalton explained things, taking note of how much a wide-brimmed hat could really add to the manly look of someone... maybe he should wear a hat like that? It... couldn't hurt, right-
Oh, right. his cousin Jenny wore a hat like that, and, uh...
Okay, yeah, not necessarily going to make him look more manly. Maybe if he could pair it with stubble, but he'd never been able to grow even the slightest amount of facial hair... Focus, Lan!
Paying attention to every Detail Dalton pointed out, the Legion's organization quickly made sense to him as he went over their general operaitions. The statement of 'evil' slightly surprised Lan, if only because it had just become such a foreign word to his vocabulary. Him and Cousin Prima - both were assassins. Even if he wanted to say he was a great guy, the whole murder thing stood a little in the way of that... Still, he felt it was wrong that these men were entrapped the way they were. "Those poor guys. I can't believe that's what happened to 'em." Lan noted softly, still paying attention to the road.
Still, he took careful note of the weakpoints he saw in their areas. places he could hide. where things were kept. patrol rotations. they may not be the same all across, but they gave him a general idea. As for the shot to the head...
Lan took a thoughtful look as he explained the strength of their officers. "...What would be the most efficient way to assassinate officers, then? I imagine that if a shot to the head does little, severing the spinal column might not do it either, but what about slicing through the neck? Would a whole beheading be required? And how easy is it to paralyze areas of the body?" The curious human asked. "Do they still care about eye damage, ear damage, breathing... how easy is it to compromise their senses in general?"

Lan’s inquiry would be met with a firm back on the back. “Smart observation. Revenants are far stronger and durable than humans, but not even they can survive a severed head” The Revenant leaned onto his left arm as he grabbed another item from his overcoat. “As for senses… Well, it is complicated. Some Revenant’s see better, some hear better, some have no changes at all. If you wish to incapacitate one with senses, study their movements. Throw a pebble and see who reacts to the sound. Figure their strongest senses and overload them” Finally, Dalton would find the item he had been seeking. It was a small orb about as large as a golf ball. It gave a sharp beep[/b] as he set it down into the mud. “Do keep in mind though…” His words trailed off as the orb sunk into the mud. “Revenant’s can heal much. If it’s inside their body, it will fully heal. Protrusions not so much. Severed limbs remain gone. Ears, noses, eyes, all remain gone” Dalton began to slowly crawl backwards, stopping as he impacted something. A tree stump or mound of dirt, perhaps. “And do not feel sorry for these men. They are loyal and zealous of their own choice” Click“Remain still. You are under arrest. Resistance will result in termination” A strange, metallic voice would state clearly through the downpour. Dalton tilted his head back, noticing three large armored figures with guns raised to the duo. “Shit fuck. Lan, return to the evacuation zone. Now.” Dalton commanded. Slowly he would rise off the ground with his hands raised up. “And remember-” One of the three figures moved up and pressed their gun against Dalton’s back. Another would remove a set of handcuffs from their belt. “No killing” lan

As Lan looked back with a Quick swallow, his face went white as a sheet as he saw death staring them in the face in triplicate. Three armoured revenants, standing directly behind them... He felt more than a little ashamed that he hadn't heard or seen them coming... Prima was probably gonna yell at her for that one. Unless he didn't tell her... no, that'd be wrong.
"s-s-sorry, sir." Lan would add. "B-b-b-but I do need to c-c-claim s-something..." Lan would add, keeping his hands slow as he slowly raised his pistol up. "w-w-would y-y-you l-l-l-like m-me to give this u-up, too?" the blue-haired assassin asked, before his hand started to slip, his concentration slipping as the increasingly flustered aqua-haired teen's sweaty hands... dropped the pistol. "a-a-a-ahhhh!" The small cameo yelled, nervously trying to catch it as it slipped around in his palms, leaving the group in the middle of an assassin who'd dropped a loaded gun that was all too capable of going off, and...
One last slap from Lan whipped the pistol Straight past Dalton's closest Revenant, drawing everyone's eye as the gun whipped off into the night, and...
With that brief moment of a dangerous fire-arm distracting from his own person, Lan took his chance and slipped immediately from his current position, slipping past the closest soldier just close enough to brush by, and with a practiced motion, loosening his anti-revenant taser from it's holster, and opening fire... The armor just made it easier, after all, for the currents to zip through.
Lan, meanwhile, was quick to duck his head and zip off into the rainy night, finding cover to dash in and out of with preternatural speed, and always, always keepign in mind his enemy's position and blind-spots - Just like shotgun tag with Cousin Prima.
Of course, Lan didn't really like Shotgun tag, either...

Dalton, his hat covering his face, did something that no one in this little debacle expected. A small chuckle escaped from the tall man as Lan flustered and blundered about. He was struggling to keep it from bursting into full out laughter once the kid dropped the loaded pistol. It was genuine amusement at the kids awkwardness. Perfect comedic timing. You couldn’t come up with this stuff… The three soldiers however, did not find the show of fear amusing. One turned to their right to the Legionnaire handcuffing Dalton, whispering something along the lines of “Do we… I mean, should we shoot her?” The Legionnaire gave a shrug before reaching to his hip holster. Before any weapon could be drawn Lan was already upon the Legionnaire with deadly precision. Despite the powerful and accurate taser strike, the Taser had no effect upon the soldier aside from a surprised “Shit!”. Still, the distraction was more than enough to allow Dalton to give the captor the slip. Literally and figuratively. The wet mud below the Soldier’s feet had been frozen over by Dalton, causing the soldiers to fall over as they attempted a pursuit. Dalton nimbly pulled the cuffs past his legs and froze the chains, tearing them apart with ease. “Mascio, Roma’nte che!” He shouted whilst running the opposite direction and straight off the cliffside. As Lan finally escaped into the forest he would be met with loud static through his communication device. After a pause he would hear a loud sigh. “Maybe next time one of us watches the rear, no? They will set off the alarms at any moment. Get to the evac zone. If it proves to be too difficult, find a safe vantage point and contact me. Keep silent otherwise. Adio-” lan

LAn smiled, continuing to run as he kept his wits about him. Sight hearing smell - Lan checked each sense in order as he went.he could hear the sound of boots and armor just barely enough to know he had more in hot pursuit. he also assumed more were taking a more silent approach and approaching from the sides or rear - if they'd done it once, it would be good to hedge their bets on managing that again, for tracking if nothing else.
Next, he checked the tree-tops. Nothing there, at least right now. He made a mental note to check again in ten seconds.
Then, the ground around him. where did the soldiers come from? He quickly spotted prints made due to his own attentive eyes, light and barely visible on the soil, before giving a slight nod, checking for those prints and modifying his own plan.
He was already smiling as he headed towards the evac zone. He knew once this adrenaline high passed, he might have a problem, but for now, he was in control, ready to move, and ready to deal with what came his way... Although the comm device did make him briefly hop into the air with Dalton's voice blaring.
"Yeah. Watching the rear sounds like a good idea in the future." Lan would add with a hint of annoyance and an utter confidence in his voice, before Dalton turned off comms. "Understood, Dalton."
And with that, A glare common to his family members fell across Lan's face as he boldly dove into a nearby shrub, right next to a certain cliff-facing. With a deep breath, he prepared to make the move from fast and bold to slow and silent.
I was going to be a long day.

“God damn it!” The voice sounded distant to Lan, but was getting louder. It was that familiar metal tinged voice which all Legionaries seemed to share. “The Prior is going to kick our asses if he finds out they got the slip on us”A loud thud echoed as one of Legionaries comrades gave him a good thwap on the shoulder pad. “You mean they got the slip on you, dumb ass. By a little girl nonetheless. Better hope they don’t send ya east buddy”“Both of you shut up. Pan out and find them. Centurion wants them alive for questioning”As the chatter grew silent, footsteps could be heard crunching through the vegetation. From the sound of it there was only one soldier getting closer. “Hmph. Fucking Prior can go-” The voice would stop just as a soldier stepped from the brush. After glancing around, he’d click a button on his helmet and sigh. “Go fuck himself. Send us out to get the Cads without any support. Want us to pick up your milk and eggs while we’re at it?” He muttered to himself whilst slowly making it to the cliff side. He’d glance down before pulling back. He’d place his rifle on his back with a loud clunk before unholstering his pistol. With the same casual cadence, he’d make his way along the shrubbery. After poking through it a minute or so with his pistol he would move onto another. “Of course, out of all the places they could've shown up, they had to choose here…” He continued, pushing thoroughly through each shrub. lan

Lan bit his lip, as he waited in the bushes, waiting for the right moment - and an opportunity to come his way.
It didn't look like this guy was going to let him go without some baggage. It made him think back to what Dalton had said before. some of these people had enhanced abilities - sight, hearing, Smell... it meant that Lan couldn't rely on any one thing actually saving him in a tight spot.
Pulling what looked like a small battery out of his pack, he wondered what kind of enhancement this one had - if any. Dalton had told him earlier to check for which one however he could, but at the moment, he was a bit out of options for that, as the guy keeps poking through the shrubs.
Still... what's this about 'of all the places they could've shown up'? they were just here on an observation mission. were they... expected? Maybe he should keep an ear peeled. it's possible he could have just been talking about them, but who knew if there was other people in the area, other organizations... and even if there wasn't, he might even let slip how they knew they were there. that'd be valuable to headquarters.
Holding the battery and sighing, he pushed down the metal stub at the end. on a normal battery, this'd just be a case of creating ouchie-fingers, but in this case, it actually depressed.
Lan quickly did some math in his head, looked at the man's speed, and pushed it thrice, before dropping the battery in the middle of the shrub and quietly starting to creep out of the shrubbery, moving slow, but just fast enough to at least try and stay ahead, looking for his next bit of terrain - what looked like a large rock formation.
Arson was a pretty good distraction in an Assassin's line of work, and in lan's case, his battery was, in fact, an incendiary device for fire-starting. With 3 presses, he had about fifteen seconds to work with-
And as soon as he noticed the device go up, he'd be moving to an advantageous position a little quicker, counting on the fire's distraction. not only that, he'd be able to see how the guy did with bright lights and strong smells given the nature of a burning bush. It was time to do some homework on his new target.

One by one the legionaries shifted through the shrubbery. Despite the soldier’s seeming impatience and frustration he seemed quite capable at scouting. As soon as the glint of the battery caught his visor, he would snap his pistol up to the bush. With a painfully slow cadence he would creep closer to the bush. “Hold there. You move and I’ll put a round in you. I don’t feel like shooting a kid, so just make this easy” He stated loud enough for anyone in the foliage to hear. Examining the bush further only revealed a small metallic cylinder, probably a battery of some sort. Before he could grab the item to make sure, however, it would erupt into a bright fire. While the explosion had little impact aside from some minor shrapnel, the soldier would jolt back and fall to the ground. “Fourteen-Seven! Fourteen-Seven-” He’d shout while keeping one hand over his visor. “God damn it, turn back on already you stupid comm system!” A loud, repetitive clicking echoed through-out the forest as he continued to tap the same button. “Stand back or I’ll fucking shoot you!” The man shouted whilst pointing his pistol in random directions. It seemed obvious that he didn’t know where he was pointing. lan
