However, her true motivation is a desire to clean the world of the kind of filth that led to her being a Ghoul in the first place, and she takes a dark relish in any opportunity to bring down the selfish, wicked and self-righteous.
PERSONALITY:
Kseniya's personality since becoming a Revenant is an almost complete reversal of the personality she had in life.
A snarky brat, Kseniya has nothing but cynicism and disdain for the shitty world she now finds herself in. She takes on a diffident air, approaching every job as merely a means to an end, and indulges herself in shallow pleasures, pretending to be indifferent to human life and the world around her. "Nothing really matters when you're dead" she'll say, but truthfully she is afraid to make any deeper connections, or try to deal with the raw mass of emotions still within her about and after her death.
FAMILIAL AND PERSONAL CONNECTIONS:
Kseniya Zakarova was the daughter of a prominent Russian Spetznas Colonel, who was tasked with pacification operations in Chechnya during the First Chechen War(1994-1996). She grew up in relative comfort and wealth in the suburbs of Moscow, but when her father moved the family to a dacha on the Volga they were intercepted and violently murdered by armed gunmen.
The attack was blamed on Chechens, but the truth is her father and his clique had fallen afoul of a rising Mafia Cartel, and their spectacular demise was meant as a warning to any who opposed them.
Kseniya has a few distant relatives still alive, but she has kept clear of any ties with them, as much for personal reasons as practical ones.

A shy schoolgirl raised by a stern overbearing military father and an often absent socialite mother, Kseniya's life was marked by academic excellence and some small talent for gymnastics, her wiry frame and small build making her a natural, something her parents had encouraged her to pursue as a life path, though privately she preferred to read and write, imagining herself as a future novelist someday.
She had made few friends, but the move from cold, urban Moscow to sunnier Volgograd had seemed like a new start, a new chance in life. She had vowed to embrace this opportunity, to discover herself, find love, and stand up to her parents and declare her intentions not to pursue gymnastics but literature instead.
But cruel fate intervened, and she was robbed of this second chance, family, and future instead.
POST REVENANCE:
Kseniya awoke from death on a cold morgue table, her last memories of life being dripping blood entering her mouth in the twisted, gunfire-shattered car wreckage that had been the SUV she and her mother had been travelling in.
That last vivid memory of blood hung on her tongue, a taste so cloying and sweet, demanding, yearning. Her death had been brutal and cruel, and now she had a hunger to match. Yet even in death Kseniya retained her intelligence and perspective.
Escaping from the morgue, she stole some cheap lollipops from a doctor's office, a cheap sweet substitute for the craving that now filled her core. Later, she would adopt the chronic habit of chewing bubble-gum, both to stave off the hunger, and in a strange way, remind her of those last few moments of life.
CORPSE EMPLOYMENT:
Sector 3. At first they refused to take her, but Kseniya demonstrated that despite her wiry, petite build, a raw dark energy enthuses her, and she has both natural speed and strength. More than that however, she has a deep abiding hunger to spill blood, to kill, to destroy. Channelling it in military purposes is both a kind of calling and a grim tribute to the life her father led, which indirectly led to her own death in the first place.
Despite this, Kseniya prefers ranged warfare, and uses her unnatural strength to lug around a GPMG and ammunition to boot. She believes that by keeping the violence at more than arm's reach, she is exercising control and restraint over that part of herself that longs to rend and maim.
Plus, inflicting the kind of cruel, bullet-laden death that she herself experienced, gives a degree of karmic payback that satisfies a grimmer part of her.
